An informal discussion and exchange of ideas regarding the writing process in the classroom and its similarities to the publishing process in “the real world” will be the focus of this session. Students of all ages enjoy making their own books and sharing their stories. Lessons taught to young authors and aspiring writers of all ages will be highlighted. Mary Ann Riehle is presenting at the author’s luncheon Friday.

Author Carol Crane tells how she was raised by two very strong women, her grandmother and mother who required her to write one sentence every day in a journal. Her new book, The Handkerchief Quilt, tells of basing the story on one line she found in her 20 year old notes.

Participants will gain in-depth knowledge in the most current RtI research and effective instruction/interventions observed in schools which have been successful in the pursuit of reading success for every student.

Pre-service teachers are the WVRA future. This session showcases actual lesson plans that pre-service teachers at West Virginia State University taught in their field placements prior to student teaching.
