Research Informative PlanRonald McDonald House

Introduction: “RMHC helped us cope before, during, and after Bradley’s transplant.” This is a quotation by one of the many families who has benefitted from this charity. In this instance, four-year-old Bradley received a life-saving stem cell transplant from his twin sister. Leading up to Bradley’s transplant and for a month after, Bradley’s mother and father stayed at the Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children’s with Bradley and their youngest son. About a month after his transplant, Bradley was released to the Ronald McDonald House where the family could be back together after several very difficult months apart. The Ronald McDonald House offered this family many great opportunities to keep busy and have a little fun. Things like painting eggs, decorating cookies, and other fun activities made a big difference to the kids. Bradley’s mom explains in this testimonial that the family even met players from the McDonald's All American ® High School Basketball Games last year. During the next few minutes, I will inform you about the Ronald McDonald House Charity and what great things this organization is doing to serve sick children and their families.

Transition to First Point: By a raise of hands, who remembers collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald house in elementary school? I do, too. Although we have probably all heard of the Ronald McDonald House, do we know what this organization is founded on?

I. What is RMHC? a. Mission Statement: The mission of Ronal McDonald House Charity (or

otherwise known as the RMHC) is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children.  This charity is guided by their mission statement and core values which are to:

i. Lead with compassionii. Focus on the critical needs of children

iii. Celebrate the diversity of our people and our programsiv. Value our heritagev. Operate with accountability and transparency

b. According to RMHC.org, 305,000 volunteers and staff members, connections with medical communities around the world, partnerships with respected companies and our generous donors make this organization possible

c. Local Chapters in 60 countries and regions with:i. 357 Ronald McDonald Houses

ii. 208 Ronald McDonald Family Roomsiii. 49 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles

Transition to Second Point: So why did we collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House? Have you ever wondered what this had to do with helping a good cause?

II. POP TABS??

, 02/18/13,
Don’t forget the Attention Getter! A little some we use in speech to kind of get our audience “tuned” in to us.

, 02/18/13,
The regular outline format begins here. Remember your outline rules!
, 02/18/13,
I like to see students write down transition sentences. Transitions are like verbal “bridges” that take us from one thing to another.
, 04/11/16,
I always like to have purpose statements underlined or in italics because this is like this claim sentence in a paper. This purpose statement will notify the audience in where you are going to go during your speech. It is what the audience can expect you to say.

i. Pop tabs remind us of an important lesson: even little things make a big difference. Pop tabs help the RMHC pay the bills so moms and dads need not worry about where they will stay while their children are in the hospital. Advantage Metals, a local recycler, buys the tabs at market rate and makes an additional charitable contribution. They generously donate their pick-up and handling services, so the income from pop tabs is pure profit.

ii. Pop tabs are a fun way for individuals, schools and organizations to get involved with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. When you pull for The House That Love Built, you expand public awareness, make new friends, raise money and protect the environment.

iii. Can check out this video.

Transition to Third Point: As you may have already discovered, many families are positively impacted by the Ronald McDonald Charity, but did you know that there is a Ronald McDonald Home in our backyard?

III. Local RMHCa. According to the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest

Indiana, . the Ronald McDonald House® near Central DuPage Hospital was recently built and opened on January 18, 2015.

b. The House features 12 private guest rooms with private baths, and designed to create a nurturing and supportive ‘home away from home’, with comfortable living and play spaces, a spacious dining and kitchen area where volunteers prepare meals, a library, and laundry facilities.

c. The House is located near the Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) Campus in Winfield, Illinois and serves families with pediatric patients being treated at CDH, Delnor Hospital or the CDH Cancer Center and Northwestern Medicine Chicago Proton Center.

Conclusion: In conclusion, it is clear to see how many lives are being positively impacted by the RMHC. This organization only exists through the help of volunteers, donations, and help from the medical community. So don’t stop collecting those pop tabs, because now you know WHY and for WHOM you are collecting them.

, 02/18/13,
Give us a good wrap up here. Something to remember about your subject without just summarizing everything you said in the body of the speech.
