Colours of the ocean

Question time

1. What does it mean to be envious?2. In my story, why might some sea creatures be envious of this fish?3. Which sea creatures might not be envious of this fish?4. Have you ever been envious of someone else?5. Do you think someone has ever been envious of you?6. Is it wrong to be envious?7. Do you really think fish really have feelings?8. Should we treat fish differently to the way we treat other people?9. Would you treat a fish with no colourful pattern the same way as you would this fish?

The majestic creature glided gracefully through the perfect, azure waters. Its size and beautiful colours stood out in stark contrast to the murky, grey ocean floor beneath.

English Task 2 – Reading Comprehension

English Task 3 – Grammar and Spelling

Spelling: Fill in the blanks with the correct adverb. (Adding ‘ly’ suffix to an adjective turns it into an adverb)

Grammar: This week, we will be working on prefixes- super, auto and anti.

Prefixes are letters added at the beginning of a word to make a new word.

Super- means greater or above. For example, superman – greater/above a normal man

Auto means self or own. For example, autograph – written by the author themselves

Anti means against or opposite of. For example, antiseptic – something that works against the bacteria or germs.

Science – Light and Dark

We will be learning about light and dark this week. You need light in order to see things. Something that produces its own light is known as the source of light. For example, sun is a natural source of light. There are other sources of light as well. Light always travel in straight lines. Nothing travels faster than light. Dark is the absence of light. Some things look like they are a source of light but they are actually not a source but just reflects light.

Activity 1: Sort the pictures below. Are they a a source of light or not a source of light.

Activity 2: Walk around your house and garden and make a list of all the light sources you can find!

Activity 3: Fill in the gaps using the words provided.
