New Life Activity
What’s Happening at
the Zoo…
(For 4th grade)
By: Kristin Pulliam and
You will create a 3-dimensional habitat for an animal found in a zoo!
You will choose any animal you may find in a zoo, and then use a shoebox, fish bowl, cereal box, any item you can imagine to create a habitat for your animal.
Your habitat needs to include: Animal Natural resources found in
habitat Any toys or other items the
animal may need or want
Be creative and use your resources!
You are a biologist and have stumbled upon a NEW, unique
animal. It is your job to name this new animal
and report to America what this animal is and how it lives.
What does it look like? What type of habitat does it live
in? What adaptations does this
animal have to survive in its habitat?
You will create a short story or report about his animal and the adaptations
the animal needs to survive.
Habitat
First, you will investigate animals- preferably local animals- and choose which animal interests you.Next, you will observe and record-using the “Observation Sheet”-the special adaptations that animal has to be able to live in your area. You will then use the “Report Your Findings” sheet to create a report about that animal. Finally, you will share your report with the class.
