We will devise a plan to assist these students. All activities will be based around pushing students OUT OF THER COMFORT ZONE (within limits), students will require to work as a team and need a high level of communication throughout the whole trip. Instructors are to instruct and teach the activity (hands off). Kaiako are to ensure student safety and ability appropriate activity (hands off). Student’s must organise and lead and work as a team to complete daily tasks and challenges.

6. In case of an injuryEach day groups will travel/ hike approx. 1 hour away from base. All medication MUST be carried every day.In the event of illness or injury, teachers and instructors will have cell phones to make contact with base, whanau and or kura.

7. CODE OF CONDUCTAll our students and kaiako will love the haerenga for what it is: challenging, fun, exhausting, a break, a get away from home and kura, a good chance to whakawhanaunga with friends and kaiako. I suspect everyone will be fine, behave, get on, whakawhanaunga, have fun and LISTEN when they need to. I have not ever experienced any undesired behaviours on any trips to date.

HOWEVER, occasionally there will be 1 or 2 that may ‘try’ things. For these reasons, I need to make the ‘CODE OF CONDUCT’ very clear to students, kaiako and parents.

BEHAVIOUR INDICATORS AND OUTCOMES:Misbehaving: answering back to kaiako or instructors, not complying to instructions, stealing, deliberately creating arguments or not working as a team. Deliberately going to ‘out of bounds’ or wrong places.Outcome: you will be moved to Whaea Peata’s group and sleeping cabin for the rest of the trip.

Anyone with or in the presence of: Alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, vapours or engaging in inappropriate relations with a boy/ girl etc.Outcome: Parents and tumuaki will be informed immediately. The student(s) will be instantly returned to kura (on a van), whanau will pay for the cost of petrol there and back (for the travelling pakeke).

If you have any further pātai – please do not hesitate to contact me.Aku mihi

Whaea Peata
