INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLACING HOLDS (RESERVING) ON BOOKS IN THE 

ST. MATTHIAS SCHOOL LIBRARY

To place a hold (reserve) on a book in the SMS Library, you must first access the electronic catalog in the Destiny Library Management System: https://stmatthias.follettdestiny.com/ 

You can also go to the St. Matthias School Website https://www.stmatthias.info/ , click on Quick Links in the box on the left side of the screen, and then click on Destiny – Library.

You can also get to it through Mrs. Lanzalotto’s Teacher Site on the St. Matthias School Website: https://www.stmatthias.info/ then click the TEACHER SITES tab on the top of the page, then click Library, Mrs. Lanzalotto.

Once you have accessed Destiny, the screen above will appear. Before you Log In, YOU MUST CLICK on St. Matthias School Library under Elementary School in the middle of the screen. If you do not do that, Destiny will assume you are an administrator and your log in will not be successful.

In the top right corner of this screen, click on Log In.

The student’s User Name (User ID) and Password are to be entered on this screen. Students have been given their User IDs and Passwords by their homeroom teachers. Once the User Name and Password are typed in, click the blue Log In button. Once logged in, Student first and last name will appear on the top right corner of the screen.

On the top left side of the screen you will see 3 tabs: HOME, CATALOG and MY INFO. There are different ways to search and place holds. We will be exploring more throughout the year, but for now, click on the CATALOG tab to search.

Type what you are looking for in the search box and click the tab that corresponds to the type of search you intend to do: keyword, title, author, subject, and series. For example, if you were looking for books by author Peter Reynolds, you would type Peter Reynolds, or Reynolds in the search bar, and click the author tab.  For all of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid titles, you could put Wimpy Kid in the search bar, and click the Series tab.

If you get a list of titles as a response, you will see a picture of each book cover and a brief record of information on that title. 

If you click on one of the titles highlighted in blue, you will see an expanded version of the title record.

Once you find the title you wish to place on hold, click the HOLD IT button in the top right corner.

In order for the hold to go through, you MUST click the SAVE button. PLEASE DO NOT SET S SPECIFIC DATE. JUST LEAVE IT SET TO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If you want to check to see if the HOLD went through, click the MY INFO tab at the top of the screen and you will see it listed.
