FE/HE Funding Scheme 2014Criteria and Guidance

Archery GB is pleased to launch a new small grants scheme aimed at supporting and

developing the archery club infrastructure within Further Education (FE) and Higher

Education (HE).

The funding has been made available through:

Sport England, as part of Archery GB’s Whole Sport Plan

(2013-2017)

As such, this funding scheme is only available for English Archery GB

college/university clubs. Home Country clubs wishing to seek funding should contact

the Development Team for further advice.

Criteria

The funding scheme has been established to encourage and support the

development of new projects. We are particularly seeking projects that target

increasing the number of people participating in archery and helping more archers

shoot more often in an FE or HE setting.

Your project has to meet one or more of the following priorities:

increasing the number of regular archers (once a week) aged 16 to 25 years

shooting at the club by a minimum of 10

keeping the number of regular archers (once a week) by increasing

opportunities available

setting up or increasing the amount of coaching per week that takes place

within the club

improving the competitive opportunities within the club

Guidance

Engagement, promotion, sustainability and exit routes will be important elements of

each project we select.

We expect to get more applications than we can afford to fund so we will prioritise

those projects that we believe will have the greatest impact.

Grants will be awarded in the region of £200 - £1,000. Due to the limited amount of

funds available, clubs are expected to contribute a minimum of 25% of the total

project cost as match funding (this could be from club funds or other sources). Any

additional funding (cash or in-kind) from applicants, other organisations or other

grant awarding bodies is encouraged.

Clubs may join together to make an application and this in some instances is

encouraged.

Examples of items we can fund include:

Non-personal equipment purchase or hire (i.e. equipment that is not used

just by one person); training coaches and/or volunteers; venue hire;

volunteer activities, marketing and promotion.

Grants will not be awarded for:

Projects that have already started, repeat or regular events, existing running

costs, fundraising activities, or individual’s equipment.

We cannot give grants for construction or refurbishment of buildings or

purchase of land; however we will grant fund facility hire in order to develop

projects.
