Creating Your Personality Swirl!

Step 1:Starting at the centre of your paper and using a black felt tip or marker pen,draw a series of curved lines that move out to the edge of the paper and curvearound in a spiral. Draw 12 lines in total.Tip: ensure that each section is thin at the centre point and gets thicker towards the edge.

Step 2:Think about the personality trails that You would want your new teacher to know about you. Are you kind? Arty? Come up with 6.Using bubble writing, write one word into one section of your swirl. Miss a section and then repeat until you have 6words with a blank section in between each. Tip: ensure that each letter touches the top and bottom lines and that you try to fill the whole section with your word, like the picture above.

Step 3:

Using felt tip pens, colour in your words. You could decide to colour each word in different colour or all of the words the same colour.Tip: Keep each letter of a word in the same colour or they will not stand out. See below for examples.

Step 4:Colour the background to each word in a contrasting felt tip colour; shade it lightly with a contrasting pencil crayon colour; or choose to leave this white!Tip: If you are planning on having very colourful in-between swirls, you might want to keep the backgrounds to the words plain so that the words can stand out.

Step 5:Get creative! Fill each remaining section in with a pattern. You could choose to use the same pattern in every swirl, change the pattern in each, change the colours, the possibilities are endless! Use the images on the next page to help inspire you!
