Year 3 Home Learning - Week 17 Dear Year 3s Here is a selection of activities for you to complete at home this week. Don’t forget to keep practising your times tables. If you are using Times Table Rock Star make sure you are using the Garage mode. You need to focus on the 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x and 10x but if you can learn the others that would be amazing! Remember at the moment your TTRockstar login will also give you access to Numbots to practise some other mental Maths. If you’ve read all

your books at home remember there are free e-books to read on Oxford Owl. BBC Bitesize have lessons each day just put in Year 3 and have a browse!

Can you write a report on an athlete that inspires you, if you are able to research on the internet then you can find out lots of details and facts about them. If you’re unable to do online research then choose a topic that you know a lot about (a computer game, a sport, a TV programme, an animal, a toy etc)

Have a read about the inspirational Athletes below and answer the questions. If you are in Mrs Wright’s or Miss Cann’s group then you can ask a grown up to help read parts to you and read out the questions.

3. I am a mathematician

This is the last week of the white rose teaching videos. This week there is some more capacity work and some questions on pictograms and bar charts. The link is https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/

4. I am a linguistUsing the Spanish word mat for fruit can you some different shopping lists to take to the market. You could create some posters for the different fruits to put up on a fruit stand, or some price labels. Or if you are feeling arty you could draw and label a fruit bowl. Have fun!

5. I am an athlete

To be a great athlete they have to look after their bodies to ensure they are in the best shape for them to be able to perform. This means not just exercising but also eating well. Use the healthy plate guidance to create a meal for an athlete. You could create a day or week food diary for them to ensure they get all the nutrients they need.

You can also ask your family for their greatest Olympic memories from growing up or what stands out to them from when we hosted the Olympics in 2012. Using these moments can you create a poster highlighting the exciting moments that the Olympics can bring to inspire people to watch the Olympics when they are able to return. It is a fabulous chance to watch sports you would never normally watch.

If you don’t have many family memories then you can include some of Mrs Berry’s highlights as she loves watching them:

- Watching Linford Christie win Gold at the 100m (Barcelona 1992) as she loved sprinting when she was at primary school.

- Watching Sally Gunnel win Gold at the 400m hurdles (Barcelona 1992) with her dad and both jumping up and down in celebration when she won.

- Watching Kelly Holmes win the double (800m and 1500m) in Athens 2004

- Getting tickets to watch some Olympic events live in 2012- Super Saturday 2012!
