Dear Parents, I hope you have had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine! I’m so glad that it has continued today – it is wonderful to see the children making the most of it by learning outside and spending time with their friends. It’s ‘sun cream and hats time’ again so please remember if we do have a nice warm and sunny day, it’s useful to send these in with your child, plus a bottle of water to keep them hydrated. NEW CURRICULUM WORKSHOPS - A REMINDER

We are most excited about our forthcoming new Curriculum workshops. Please note that the workshop for parents with children in nursery has changed. The workshops probably will not take as long as an hour but we have allowed time for any questions. We will be running these workshops again in the Autumn should you be unable to attend on this occasion. Today, an invitation will be sent to your child’s HWB account which you will have used to access during the school closure period. Some of you will be used to this after joining the live sessions. If you click on the link it will take you to the meeting on the day. The meeting can also be accessed via the Teams calendar in your child’s HWB account. Here are the dates and times:

FUNDRAISING DAY – FRIDAY 18 TH JUNE

As many of you may know, one of our school families was affected by a house fire just prior to the

half term break. The fire was devastating and the family have lost so much, including their home. As we are a family and support each other, we will be

holding a ‘non-uniform’ day to raise funds which can be given directly to this family to provide assistance to them at this time. Donations can be placed in the

buckets directly by each school gate.

Children are invited to wear non-school uniform, their favourite clothes or dress up however they

wish (within reason)! Thank you so much for your support, it will mean so much to this family.

PARENT/TEACHER CONSULTATIONS

After receiving guidance from the local authority, our parent – teacher consultations will be held over the phone. You will be able to request a suitable time slot and will be allocated an appointment. The class teacher will ring you at the given time. Letters will be sent out to individual classes this week. I apologise that we are not able to see you in person at present but we are unable to accommodate simultaneous appointments for all classes in a COVID secure way. We hope that the Autumn will bring a change to things. Thank you for your support.

IMPORTANT DATES

Here are some important dates as we make our way forward into the Summer. Should you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us so that we can help.

FRIDAY 2ND JULY – INSET DAY – SCHOOL CLOSED FOR STAFF TRAINING

FRIDAY 9TH JULY – REPORTS/ CLASS ARRANGEMENTS PROVIDED TO PARENTS

FRIDAY 16TH JULY – YEAR 6 LEAVING CEREMONY – SCHOOL YARD 2.00P.M.

Separate information will be send to Year 6 parents regarding end of term events. We will be unable to perform a concert with parents present. However, the concert will be filmed and a link shared directly so that you can all enjoy the Year 6 performance, which will be amazing. Parents will be able to attend the ceremony on the last day of term but in a socially distanced way, around the school yard (similar to last year).

Each class will also hold a sports’ day but unfortunately we will not be able to invite you in. I assure you that we are following current guidance and, although disappointed, everyone’s safety is of paramount important.

SCHOOL CLOTHING

A polite reminder regarding school uniform/ clothing worn to school. We have been more ‘relaxed’ this year with school uniform and PE kit. However, please ensure that your child wears appropriate clothes to school. With the weather becoming warmer we have had instances of very small summer shorts being worn and other clothes that we consider to be not quite appropriate for school. We would encourage school uniform to be worn at all times and PE kits where possible should be a t-shirt with suitable leggings/ jogging bottoms or long shorts if preferred. From the Autumn term, PE kit will return to being a white t-shirt with navy or black shorts, skorts or leggings/joggers. Thank you for your support with this.

STAFF NEWS - RETIREMENT

Many of you are already aware that at the end of the term, Mrs. Gardiner will be retiring. Mrs. Gardiner has been at Town Church for over 30 years. She is the first person you see or speak to, a constant support for parents (and staff) and the font of all knowledge! I simply cannot put into words how much she will be missed by all of the Town Church family. I really don’t know what I will do without her! I know that many of

you will want to share your good wishes with Mrs. Gardiner and it is such a shame that we cannot have a big celebration to mark the occasion. However, we will find our own ways of showing our love and gratitude to her for all that she has given to the school. As you know, she is such a character and the office is always full of laughter and positivity. She has been a source of great strength particularly during this challenging year. As she leaves she takes the love, prayers and best wishes of her Town Church family with her as well as sincere and heartfelt thanks.

Well, I think that is everything for now. Please contact us if you have any queries or concerns. We will be glad to hear from you.

Thank you,

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. M.C.Werrett
