Innis & Gunn x The Originals About Us As an independent beer company born in Scotland that has grown to compete with the big boys of brewing, Innis & Gunn know the value of original thinking, craft and innovation. We never shy away from putting in the time and the effort necessary to create a different kind of beer (& beer brand). Innis & Gunn doesn’t only talk about originality. We actively support it as well. The one thing that has remained constant throughout our time is our independent spirit. For us it’s never been about standing out or fitting in, it’s about doing what we believe is right. Sometimes it makes us the black sheep, sometimes the golden goose. That’s fine by us, we can be either. Above all we try to stay true to ourselves, believe in what we are doing and do what we do best; be a group of individuals who challenge the norms in pursuit of different, better beer. The Brief Innis & Gunn x The Originals is all about bringing creativity to the fore at a time when it may otherwise take a back seat during lockdown. We have challenged a range of artists to create new art during a period of social distancing, a time when many are working from their home rather than their studio. To date we have had signpainters, photographers, videographers, projectionists and musicians. Every medium is original, we do not want to be confined in the range of artists we work with. What we are looking for is to explore the theme of Originality in beer and in art. What does originality look like through your eyes and your craft. Inspired by the beer and what it represents, we’re looking to create something that is truly unique. So, although the reality of the world has changed dramatically in the past weeks and we see the tough times ahead we also believe that in amongst adversity people can create amazing, original things. Our challenge to you is to take whichever element of our beer, design, brand or business that is of most interest to you and bring it to life in your own original way. 2. A Wrong Turn Can Be In The Right Direction. Perseverance is the continual application of imagination, creativity and self-confidence. Ignore the Nae Sayers!

3. Stay True to What You Are. It’s what garners the most respect, consistently doing what you believe is right.

4. Prop The Door Open With The Rule Book. Don’t break rules for the sake for it but be free spirited, it’s possible to be a group of individuals who respectfully challenge norms.

We’ve also included a bunch of info about our beers too, maybe you already have a favourite, or one jumps out from the pack when you glance? What should it look like? Although the main focus here is to create something wonderful and artistic, documenting from start to finish, this is still branded content, which means there will be a need to see some product throughout the process. Whether it’s a beer on your desk while you are working, in front of you as you’re brainstorming or front and centre when the piece is finished - the beer should be present in one form or another. We want to see your process and your working. From sketches, materials and brainstorms to capturing mock-ups and the creation of your final piece, keep your journey documented. How you choose to capture the content is up to you, be it through photos, video, timelapse or any other creative outlet.We will provide The beer and any packaging, design elements needed, merchandise etc required.Deliverables

We are looking for the creation of 6 assets in total: A hero shot of the beer in front of the final piece x 2a shot that highlights both the beer and the final piece 

Photo/video materials of your work/process x4:  These are used to introduce you to our audience on Instagram Stories. We want to include some of your work to highlight your creativity and process.

Reciprocal social media tagging with the Innis & Gunn hashtag  The final piece(s) for use by Innis & Gunn  1yr usage of supplied assets. The winner will grant a royalty free license

for 1yr usage of supplied assets; however, IP is retained by the winnerTimeframe

Week of 11 May - Brief Circulated 18 May - Submit your idea for taking part in The Originals 22 May - Artist selected; project confirmed 15 June - Partnership Announcement through social 17 June - Art project completed & any supporting assets 19 June - Finished artwork presented online

FeeArtist will be awarded £500 to cover the complete project, including any materials. Where appropriate, Innis & Gunn will supply any branded materials needed for example beers, barrel staves, merchandise etc.
