9 th Grade Literature and Composition Dear Parents, The 9 th Grade Literature and Composition students will read several novels over the course of this year. One of the Henry County Board of Education initiatives for ELA is teaching students the importance of close reading. Close reading requires that students interact with the text while promoting improved thinking, questioning, and note taking skills, as well as improving reading comprehension and literacy skills. Students are not required to purchase a novel. Copies of the novel will be made available for students who choose not to purchase their own. However, students may not write in or attach sticky notes to school owned novels as these cause damage to the books. Instead, students must keep annotation notes as they read on their own paper, separate from the novel text. For your convenience, if you would like for your child to have her/her own copy of each of the novels we’ll read, we are happy to offer to order and deliver the novels for you. Simply fill out the form below, include payment in the form of a check (NO CASH), and make all checks payable to UGHS. Last day to submit orders is Friday, August 4, 2017. The 9th Grade Literature and Composition students will read several novels over the course of this year.
