Home School Learning Update Thank you for all of your messages, we hope that you are continuing to stay happy and healthy. We also hope that you are managing to do some work every day but are also finding times to do some fun activities as well – it certainly looks like you have from the messages that we have received on Dojo. If you get stuck just let your teacher know through Dojo. Your teachers are missing your smiles around school and look forward to seeing you again soon. This week we will be focussing on making doubles and continuing our work with division. We will be doing this through making equal group and by sharing a certain amount. Our key vocab this week is ‘equal’, ‘group’, ‘share’, and ‘half’. to the children as ‘making equal groups’. Children will need to be able to understand the definition of a half and find this in different forms.

6. Challenge – Practical maths surrounding division – make a role play bakery or bake a cake, or make a pizza with your child. Practice cutting the pizza into halves, what does half mean? Show cutting the pizza unequally and challenge children to tell you this isn’t a half and why.

is an additional maths challenge:

Art/DT Can you use the things in your house to make an instrument? You could use pasta or rice inside a container to make a shaker instrument, or put some elastic bands around an empty yoghurt pot or tissue box to make your own guitar. Be creative! Once your instrument can make the sound you want it to make, decorate it to make it look fabulous.

Capture an image of your creation and send this through on Dojo.

Literacy 1. Listen to the story on youtube ‘How Kind by Mary Murphy’. Can you talk about all of the kind acts which are in this story. Can you make a spider diagram with the word ‘Kindness’ in the middle. Can you think of as many kind acts as you can which you could do for your friends/family. write these down on your spider diagram.

2. Go into the garden if you have one, or if not on your daily walk can you look out for some daisies. collect these in a bag and create a beautiful daisy chain. Can you give this to someone in your house to be super kind? Can you write a note to say who your daisy chain is for and why?

4. Make a kindness potion with your grown ups. This can include anything (water, food colouring, sparkles, jelly!) Can you then write your own recipe book with step by step instructions of what to add first/second/after that. What magical power does this potion give you? Use your knowledge from last weeks maths about capacity to help you!

5. Write some sentences about what being kind means to you. What does your family do for you that is kind? Think about a time when someone was kind to you and write about how this made you feel. Think about a time you have been kind to someone and write about this.

Spelling Please continue to work through the Y1 common exception word list and test your children every week.

Science/History Before you conduct the experiment, have an adult explain to you what you are going to do. Write down a prediction of what you think will happen to the daisy and why. Make sure you can tell your adult what a prediction is! Then conduct the Daisy Experiment to the right! Send us photos of your daisies after. Write about what you found out and if your prediction was correct.

Reading Read with adult three times a week.

Send us a video or picture of you to reading to a sibling or your parent.

Physical Complete a Joe Wicks PE lesson! Can you dress up as a character to do your exercise?

Project Continue your Coronavirus time capsule box, work your way through the worksheets provided.

Each time you complete a sheet, send a photo to on Dojo so we can see!

fantastic chocolate cake and his recount about what he did! I even felt like I could make my own cake just by reading Jensen-James’s fabulous writing. It is clear Jensen-James is still putting in 100% with his school work, even from home! Well done Jensen-James and keep working hard, you should be super proud of yourself!
