The Client
Printaza is a France based printing enterprise offering a wide range of
designs for products like business cards,
envelopes, letterheads, greeting cards,
postcards, flyers, posters, brochures
etc. It’s a valiant effort by an
enterprising designer who has exhibited
for the world to see what our web to
print solution is really capable of.
Today, he operates Printaza as an
online platform that provides print
designs to small businesses. The
attractive designs and user-friendly
storefront have made Printaza a name
to be reckoned with in the French
market.
Requirements
When our client approached us he was very clear that he wanted to cash in
on the advantages afforded by the digital age. He wanted us to develop a
solution that could automate the prepress processes. He wanted the
customers to have an exciting product designing experience and convenient
order placement facility. But this was really a broad canvas for our team. So
we decided to break down his requirements into smaller parts. Finally what
we had was following:
Fundamentally, our client was looking for a web-based prepress
solution.
He was interested in using this solution to sell designs online.
CLIENT’S FEEDBACK
“OnPrintShop is about
better production,
planning, and control.
Now using the same
amount of time I do
business cards,
letterheads, and
envelopes too. I am
making more money by
saving time and money.”

He wanted the solution to display his range of products and
services for end customers.
He wanted to use the solution to offer some ready designs for different
products.
He wanted his solution to have some designing interface that allowed
his customers to edit and personalize ready designs.
He demanded that this interface should also support custom designing
process.
He desired to have some online order collection system for the sake of
end customer convenience.
He wanted his system to affiliate with printers since he was looking to
get printing done from other vendors.
He wanted to use the solution to store details of his customers for
analysis purpose.
He wanted to generate business relevant reports using the solution’s
stored data.
He wanted to have an easy order management system.
Our client also wanted the ability to manage the content of the
solution.
Radix Approach
Once we had our client’s requirements neatly listed down, we proceeded
with the analysis part. We divided the requirements into two parts –
business critical and business enhancers. We then studied the French print
market and how it operated. We had to identify any possible gaps in the

processes modeled in our solution and fill them up accordingly for
the French market. Once the analysis part was done, we divided the
development process into phases and each phase was handled by the team
independently. Our systematic approach ensured that what we finally
delivered to the client met all his requirements.
The Solution
We have always maintained that our OnPrintShop web to print storefront
holds tremendous potential. You don’t always need deep pockets or big
shoes to do something innovative in print industry. Printaza practically
demonstrated this. A graphic designer migrated prepress designing process
on a web browser and captured the imagination of French market.

Printaza’s online print store is marked by following features:
First and foremost, we developed an attractive frontend for
Printaza with strong branding and brand recall value.
Printaza uses this frontend to display the variety of products for which
the customers can buy designs.
We have integrated a dynamic template management system which
allows the client to upload ready-to-use design templates for end
customers to use.
Practicing transparent pricing, our client displays the tariffs of his
various products on this storefront.

As for online designing, we have integrated an Online Designer
Studio in Printaza’s storefront. Printaza’s customers can edit and
personalize design templates in this studio or create designs from
scratch.

We have integrated a shopping cart system into the
storefront so that the customers of Printaza can purchase product
designs. This shopping cart system has an integrated payment
gateway to facilitate online payments and shipping gateway to get
products delivered.
Printaza delivers print-ready 300DPI PDF files to the customers who
want to get products printed of their own accord. This PDF file is
both CMYK and RGB compatible.
The storefront has an order management system to issue order
summary with product details, shipping details, billing and payment
details, special notes if any by clients. Every single order is issued a
separate id for easy tracking.
Printaza’s online print store has a customer account feature that
stores customer details like shipping and billing address, their order
history, image gallery, etc.
From the backend, Printaza’s system administrator can add
unlimited number of products and product templates.
Printaza’s storefront has a tax management module that allows the
system admin to set up tax rates based on state and country.
The storefront has a content management facility that allows the
admin to publish guidelines, FAQs, testimonials, etc.
Star Features
Printaza was always intended to operate as an online platform selling print
design services to the French market. Owing to this there were a few
customizations that our client envisioned. These customizations meant
better business prospects for our client. Thus, we carried out the following
custom development for Printaza:

Local Language Support
Printaza was conceived to specifically serve the French market. So we
localized Printaza’s frontend in French language to help end users better
relate to the storefront. The French language is reflected in storefront’s
content, images, and even email notifications. But the backend of the
storefront is maintained in English language.
Custom Theme Design
As Printaza was the brainchild of a graphic designer, he wanted the
storefront to have a design that was unique in its look and feel. So we
custom designed a theme layout that is quite different from our other
storefront themes. The design, besides acting as a distinguishing factor,
furthers Printaza’s branding and holds strong recall value.
Studio Customization
Since it was apparent that Printaza’s clientele would largely be French, we
decided to customize their online designer studio and integrate French fonts.
This was done to assist the customers while designing products and placing
orders.
SEO Module
Printaza envisioned business expansion through higher search engine
rankings. For this, we custom developed an SEO module which allowed the
system admin to rewrite URL and define keywords, titles, meta tags, and
page descriptions. Printaza’s system admin can use this module to set ALT
text for images of the storefront and create Google and Yahoo compatible
sitemap.

The Wrap Up
This project gave us an opportunity to demonstrate our customization
capabilities across the length and breadth of our business ready solution.
This project further proved our point that web to print has tremendous
potential and can lead to interesting business models if explored further.
However, our development efforts were aptly supported by a very proactive
client. We worked as a cohesive unit with our client to develop a solution
that met all his business needs. We are proud of our association with
Printaza and look forward to a longstanding business relationship.
