WILLIAMS LAKE SALE THURSDAY, MARCH 31st Well Wilf & Wade set the stage in Williams Lake for one powerful sale with a 1080 head on offer . This top sale star ted with an in house video of 350 head of heifer s and steers from Alan Fridlington of Kersley. The 1st package was 230 head of replace-ment quality Angus heifers 730 lbs. they traded up to 223.00. 119 head of their 712 lb. Angus steers raced to 218.50. The Stirrup Ranch today built the fire under our feeder trade in the ring with 120 powerful calves. The ring full of their beautiful heifers 671 lb. with 45 in the group, they were all Black & Bwf fancy and good, they traded to 225.00. 20 head of their 645 lb. replacement heifers marked 235.00, their big sisters 751 lb. raced to 226.00. 10 head of their 704 lb. steers saw 224.00. Dave Taylor at the Rafter T Ranch saw their 36 head of 674 lb. Black Angus steers trade to 230.00 and the big boys, 21 head 749 lb. raced to 209.00, their 594 lb. heifers reached 230.00. The Wandering Creek Ranch /Verlin Jantz with a liner load of powerful calves. 23 head of their 572 lb. steers saw 229.25, their pen of 485 lb. s/c hit 259.00. Dave and
NORTHERN ALLIANCE ANGUS BULL SALE –MARCH 26TH On a beautiful Saturday afternoon we made a good splash in the bull market selling over 100 bulls averaging $5192.00 each. A great display of today’s best Red Angus bloodlines came from Red Moon Angus / Jim & Shirley and Tom Moon. RED MOON CROWN ROYAL 37C sold for 8250.00. They also brought some Black Simmental bulls with MOON BLACK SUGAR 26C bringing 6800.00. Poplar Meadows Angus / Monte, Tanya and Taylor Belsham had a great selection of powerful Black Angus bulls for sale. POPLAR MEADOWS ABERDEEN 5C was donated to the Alzheimer Society and brought 3500.00. PM DEVIL MADE ME DO IT 208C hit the ceiling at 10,000. Marberly Angus / Kim Beaudette also had exceptional Black Angus genet-ics for sale. MARBERLY C C & 7 17C REACHED 8,000.00. Blast Angus / Lia, Brent, Tori and Shea Long continued to exhibit the strength of their Black Angus bulls. BLAST PERFECT STORM 2C wowed the audience and fetched 8750.00. This was our first time offering on-line bidding at BC Livestock Vanderhoof and found it to be a wonderful addition to the front row, some bulls going as far as Ontario. We had a lively crowd and a line up of the best Angus bulls in the industry. While we all miss Frank Strimbold it is great to see the continuation of quality genetics in our valley. Thank you to all the contributors and bidders for the wonderful bull sale.
VANDERHOOF SALE—FRIDAY APRIL 1ST 763 head was on offer this week in Vander hoof, almost exclusively feeders. We kicked off with a liner load of 773 lb. steers from Tophay Agri Industries /Judd Wu. They set the pace at 187.25. Then we went with Andy Meintz Contracting’s impressive Red Angus steers bringing 208.75 for 707 lb. His 858 lb. steers traded at 181.50. Muir Stock Farms/Monroe and Cindy Muir brought 151 head. Their 910 lb. exotic type steers made it to 174.00 while their 893 lb. Char X heifers topped out at 173.50. On the lighter end they had 748 lb. Bwf heifers roll through at 185.75. Garret Ranches saw their 668 lb. Angus X heifers reach 214.50 and 532 lb. Hereford heifers collected 196.00. Wikkstra Farms watched their 732 lb. steers notch 206.75. Grass type steers from Fred Tabert weighed in at 589 lbs. and raced to 246.00, his 565 lb. Angus X heifers settled on 225.00. In the butcher trade we only had 38 cows and 14 bulls. Cows ranged from 90.00 to 103.00 with heiferettes touching 155.00. Bulls were 101.00 to 134.00. It was great to see another batch of top quality BC cattle. Thanks to all contrib-utors, buyers and crew for the great sale. Remember the Vanderhoof All-Breeds Bull Sale April 9th. Ed & Angela Pawloff saw their 1548 lb. butcher cows mark 100.00. Gary Andrews with heavy 1745 lb. cows from Lumby marking 105.00. Lee Collins put the power to the yearling trade with 608 lb. heifers marking 214.00. LAC Holdings from Grand Forks had 527 lb. s/c mark 252.50. Tom & Linda Hancock saw their 675 lb. s/c race to 228.50. 8 head of their 633 lb. s/c raced to 243.25. 9 head of their 580 lb. h/c’s notched 203.00. 19 head of their 677 lb. replacement h/c’s reached 191.00. Len & Marvin Tonn from Kelowna saw their 80 head of feeders trade strong. The big package of 523 lb. steers hit 241.00. 41 head of their 644 lb. steers raced to 226.50. This sale set the new records as the high selling bull so far this year owned by Mitchell Cattle Co. A powerful Red Angus Bull RED MITCHELL RAMBLER 18C had everyone on the edge of their seats as he sold for $14,500.00 purchased by the Buse Creek Ranch of Kamloops, Larry & Holly Campbell. The Springfield Ranch selected RED AMALYST 60C for 8100.00. The sale average on 17 Red Angus Bulls marked 6191.00 per head.
