These fritters are unbelievably easy to make, low calorie, and
the perfect way to sneak in some veggies, especially if you are running out of ideas from your summer harvest. They are great as leftovers in lunch boxes. You can also add in lots of other tasty things such as onion and pepper, or even make them Indian flavoured with some curry spices (hint if you do this leave out the parmesan cheese.
Ingredients750 grams courgettes, grated
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup grated parmesan
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 large egg, beaten
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions• Place grated courgettes
in a colander over the sink. Add salt and gently toss to combine; let sit for 10 minutes. Using a clean dish towel or cheese cloth, drain courgettes completely.
• In a large bowl, combine courgettes, flour, parmesan, garlic and egg; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
• Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Scoop tablespoons of batter for each fritter, flattening with a spatula, and cook until the underside is nicely golden brown, about 2 minutes. Flip and cook on the other side, about 1-2 minutes longer.
Serve immediately.

Here are some tips for business owners and self-employed
contractors to consider and action for the financial year end, before forwarding their accounts to the accountant.General DeductionIf you incur an expense before 31 March, it is generally deductible for Year End 2015 unless there are express rules to restrict its deduction.Debtors and Bad DebtThis is particularly relevant for the March month because you have to pay income tax on all outstanding debtors in YE 2015 with no certainty whether you will be able to collect it. So review your debtors list. Write off any debt which has been outstanding for a period of time despite a concerted effort to collect it.The debt has to be written off and date stamped and processed in your accounting system before 31 March 2015. You also need to keep a detailed bad debt write off policy to
satisfy any IRD audit. Please note that writing off debt does not mean you have to give up your right to chase the debt. You can still send them to debt collection agency but you do not have to pay income tax until the debt is recovered.General SuppliersCollate all of the March
invoices that you receive after year end. You can claim these
as creditor expenses incurred before balance date.Salaries & Annual Leave Employers can claim a deduction for holiday pay and long service leave payments if they are paid within 63 days of balance date.Employers can also claim a deduction for bonus payments. As long as there is a contractual commitment to pay and the bonus calculation was started before March 2015.Fixed AssetsConsider postponing any asset sale until after
balance date to defer any possible depreciation recovery. Conversely, consider bringing forward any business asset purchase before balance date to maximise depreciation claim.
Writing Off AssetsYou can write off any obsolete assets that are not in working order (Note: obsolete assets
have to be physically disposed of by year end).Any assets that cost less than $500 (GST exclusive) can be written off as an expense rather than capitalised as an asset.Give our friendly team a call if you need help to deal with your year end matters.

The first of April brings
forth more than a just new tax year. As signaled late last year, a series of changes to the KiwiSaver first home buyer packages come into effect on 1 April 2015. These changes will allow first home buyers to make bigger withdrawals from their KiwiSaver accounts and potentially receive more financial assistance from the Government.
What’s changing?
The KiwiSaver First Home Withdrawal will be expanded to include member tax credits - this means first home buyers will be able to withdraw all of their KiwiSaver savings except the $1,000 Government kick-start. The KiwiSaver First Home Deposit Subsidy will be replaced by the KiwiSaver HomeStart Grant. This will double the support for buying or building a new home and increase the house price limits. Expanding eligibility for
Welcome Home Loans by aligning house price caps with the new KiwiSaver HomeStart Grant.
So what might the numbers look like for a first home buyer? Let’s use the example of a couple in Hamilton who each earn $50,000. After five years of contributing to their KiwiSaver account at the minimum 3% rate they will be able to withdraw $32,585 (excludes the impact of investment returns) made up as follows:
They will also be eligible to receive a $20,000 KiwiSaver HomeStart Grant, giving them $52,585 to put towards the purchase price.
There are many ways to obtain your goals, be in your own home, and then be debt free.
Talk to me to see how we can help get you a loan and then structure it to maximise your situation.

The Station Store is a historical landmark positioned on the corner of Roberton Road. This area has seen
a lot of changes over the years. Avondale or the Whau as it was known until formally changed in 1882 was first subdivided in the 1840’s with just a few settler families. The journey to Auckland over rough roads was a day’s journey. First, the horse drawn carriages to Auckland and then the Auckland to Helensville railway in 1880 changed the landscape considerably from the 269 people
living in the area according to the 1878 census to the growing area it is today.
The Station Store is a character home and is generously sized on 620 m2 with a sleepout as well. The views to the Waitakere Ranges are breath taking and you are only a short distance from the city centre these days thanks to the great motorways or train nearby.
The main villa features five bedrooms, two bathrooms, separate formal lounge, family
room, open plan kitchen and dining area, which flows seamlessly through French doors to the sun-drenched west-facing veranda. The wrap around decks would be perfect for entertaining with its wide outlook and a fully fenced private garden and lawn.
The sleepout has two bedrooms, one bathroom and living room. The options for the sleepout are many; work from home, perfect for students or a large extended family.
Come and see how this unique property could work for you.
