Automotive Download Services ADS collects data from automotive dealership computer systems and compiles it into a homogenous database for delivery to a variety of applications. For example, Internet vehicle classified listings can detail both new and used cars or trucks without input by dealership employees. Service and sales records provide content for direct marketing campaigns (email or "snail" mail) and the new Internet "personal web pages" for consumers.

Data Management, Purification, and Standardization

Because dealerships utilize their DMS according to their individual business practices, the data format is inconsistent across the market. Consequently, ADS has been programmed with automated procedures that verify and convert the data into a consistent format. Misspelled and abbreviated words are repaired, codes (i.e. vehicle option codes and service operation codes) are converted to detailed descriptions, and invalid information is removed.

Dealerships can also establish predefined business rules that allow for DMS data to be adjusted automatically. For example, pricing formulas can be established that produce a value for display based on pricing formulas that escalate or reduce DMS vehicle price fields by percentage, "pack", or other variables. In addition, data fields can be combined or excluded in consolidation routines that produce a required result without human attention or intervention.

Dealership Security

AVV understands the importance of the confidentiality of the data contained on each DMS system. That is why we provide the dealership with a non-disclosure agreement as part of our service. Because the DMS systems have security systems that limit access to specific data through the user name and password protocol, ADS can only gather information from the report generator of a specific application, like F&I for the extraction of vehicle inventories.

The ADS process is non-destructive to the dealership data because the service extracts a copy of a data report from the DMS computer between midnight and 6 am. At no time does ADS write or erase files on the dealership system. For additional peace of mind, ADS is insured and bonded if a problem might occur.

Internet Inventory Management

ADS provides each dealership with a link to their converted vehicle data through WebControl, a secure Internet based application. This on-line vehicle inventory management system allows the dealership to review the vehicle inventory that was converted from their DMS system and make changes to pricing or options such as adding a tow package vehicle description.

The Internet based WebControl interface provides the dealership with a vehicle inventory management system without the purchase of additional computer hardware or software. ADS collects and processes vehicle pictures with a procedure that resizes pictures for fast Internet display or high quality printing in newspaper or tabloids. The dealership can also send their inventory files to multiple Internet classified web sites through WebControl. No longer will the dealership need multiple vendors dialing into their DMS to pull their inventory for display on one web site. ADS provides the DMS security and confidentiality required by most dealerships.

WebControl® Ranked Number One Independent Lead Management System on Ward’s e-Dealer

COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 14, 2003 – For the second consecutive year, AVV’s WebControl has been ranked as the Number One Independent Internet Lead Management System not affiliated with a publicly held dealership group.  According to the survey, WebControl was prominently identified with 23 of the top 100 dealerships.

WebControl’s distinction is the result of the Ward's e-Dealer 100 annual ranking of dealerships according to the number of Internet transactions from the previous year. Ward's uses an industry-standard definition for an online sale: any sale where the contact is initiated online and is completed by an Internet-dedicated salesperson. In the 2002 survey, dealers were asked: “What system does your dealership use to track and manage Internet leads?”
