of carpets and cloth. Weaving was an

important part of almost every home,

especially in the villages. Wove mainly in

winter, when not working in the field.

Weaving on SlovakiaWeaving is one of the most common crafts in

Slovakia.

Spiš, Saris, Orava, Gemer and Liptov were villages and towns where weaving is most extended. Each region in Slovakia has its own motives, which represents.

Weaving loomThe weaving machine is a mechanical device for the

production of fabrics. Englishman Edmund Carpwright came in 1785 with the invention of this machine developed on the basis of hand loom, known about since 4 millennium AD.
