Dear Parishioners,

Today as we celebrate the Solemnity of Our

Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe we

conclude another liturgical year and begin anew next

Sunday, the first Sunday of Advent. At Mass today we

will listen and pray the following:

His is “an eternal and universal kingdom, a kingdom of truth and life,

a kingdom of holiness and grace, a kingdom of justice, love and peace”

(Preface of Christ, King of the Universe).

Such a description of Christ’s kingdom may not reflect the sort of earthly kingdoms we learn about and

witness today including palaces and thrones, territories and lands, crowns and jewels. Jesus’ kingdom does

not belong to this world and yet it is being built in our very midst. The kingdom that will last forever is one

where the last will be first and the first will be last.

Last Sunday Pope Francis asked how is it that God in heaven can hear the cries of the poor, but so many

people watching or standing nearby either cannot or do not care? This question was part of his reflection on

the World Day of the Poor which will be celebrated every year on the 33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time.

Focusing on Psalm 34, “The poor one cried out and the Lord heard,” the Holy Father comments that the

answer to the poor is always an intervention of salvation in order to heal the wounds of the body and soul,

restore justice and assist in beginning anew to live life with dignity.

Perhaps as we read these words and look around, we seek a kingdom of justice, love and peace through our

own acts of charity and altruism working as true agents of salvation for those less fortunate and in need.

I encourage you to read the Holy Father’s message for the World Day of the Poor and as we celebrate the

end of another liturgical year and begin anew in Advent may we encourage one another to work together for

the kingdom where the last will be first and the first will be last, a kingdom of holiness and grace, a kingdom

of justice, love and peace .

You may choose to commemorate a

death anniversary, wedding

anniversary or birthday remembrance. The 2019

Mass Book is now open and each offering is $15.00.

Please come to the Parish Office to make special

Mass offerings for your loved ones.

TD BANK PARISH FUNDRAISER. If you are

currently banking with TD Bank (checking, savings,

money market, etc.) TD Bank will make an annual

contribution to Our Lady of the Snows. This is how

it works: During your next visit to TD Bank, mention

to a representative the “Affinity Membership

Program” and our parish’s affinity code number

AG498. Any existing accounts at any TD Bank

branch and newly open accounts will earn credit

whereby TD Bank will base its annual contribution to

Our Lady of the Snows Parish. The more who bank

with TD Bank the more money TD Bank will

contribute to the parish annually. There are no costs

involved and everyone’s privacy is guaranteed.

Thank you for your participation in this parish

fundraiser!

CHURCH ENVELOPES. The new packet of church

envelopes was mailed recently to all registered

parishioners who use the weekly envelopes. If you

did not receive the mailing please contact the Parish

Office. If you do not receive envelopes we encourage

you to formally register in the parish as active

parishioners and help support the parish throughout

the year. Lastly, we kindly ask you to mark your

offering amount on the front of the envelope each

week. Thank you for your cooperation and generosity

to Our Lady of the Snows Parish.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION represent free

money for Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy.

Thank you to everyone who clips box

tops from these products and brings

them to the Academy or Parish Office.

Please note that Campbell’s Labels

will no longer be accepted. We

encourage everyone to continue clipping box tops for

us.

CHURCH ETIQUETTE. A reminder

to everyone to please turn off cell

phones before entering the church. We

ask that before and after Mass

greetings to each other should be

extended in the Gathering Space as

some parishioners may be praying privately in the

church. Lastly, please be mindful of wheel chair

seating in the church for the disabled and their

caregivers. Thank you for your consideration.
