We may not be faced with life and death, but…
• Christians may be afraid to truly express themselves to others because of FEAR.• This multifaceted lesson deals with
the various environments where fear is manifested and our need to TRUST IN OUR LORD.
Fear About What Others Think• When evangelizing. Cp. Matt. 10:27-28• When standing for truth. Cp. 1 Pet. 4:14-16
It is not so much about the big stuff as it is about peer pressure
Some Christians Have a Fear Of…
• Singing songs about Christ’s birth… around Christmas.• Sermons preached about the resurrection… on Easter Sunday.• Clapping in response to good news; someone’s baptism• Saying “amen” aloud.
Some become so afraid to do or say things that we forget about the reason(s) why we can do them.
Cp. Matt. 11:17
Our Fears Are Not About Things… But People
•We fear being looked down upon and rejected. •We desire to be respected
and accepted. Jn. 12:42-43
End Result? Jn. 19:38
Freedom… Not Fear
• Trust in the Lord. Prov. 29:25• He – not man – makes you
stand. Rom. 14:4• NOTE: do not to use your
freedom in Christ as a cause for the flesh, division, or stumbling. Gal. 5:13; 1 Cor. 8:9
