Client: Canadian Natural Resources LimitedScope: Engineering down and topside removal Location: North Sea Date: 2014 onwards
Bilfinger Salamis supported the decommissioning of the Murchison asset as a supplier of architectural, asbestos, insulation, painting, rope access, scaffolding and engineering services.
The initial engineering down to ‘lighthouse’ mode in preparation for heavy lift included a NORM removal programme and chemical flushing of associated pipework.
A comprehensive asbestos management programme included removal of cladding, exhaust tips, insulation and Bestobell seals.
Additional scopes included permit office relocation, caisson shim installation, removal of conductor clamps, cable pulling, installation of debris netting, and essential ongoing fabric maintenance.
This was followed by a three-month campaign to prepare the topside structure ready for heavy liftincluding: further asbestos removal, scaffolding, ERT,flame cutting and general labouring.
All works were completed on time and within budget.
01 _ Bilfinger‘s specialist cleaning team provide a range of additional environmental services, including chemical cleaning and vessel fogging.02 _ The removal of asbestos on the Murchison platform allowed our client to safely splice and remove the associated pipework as part of the decommissioning plan.03 _ Bilfinger supplied multi-disciplined teams to our client‘s satellite decommissioning project in preparation for heavy lifting.

Supply of multi-skilled teams (RPS, mechanical fitters, NORM operatives, scaffolders, rope access and riggers). Support of drain, flush, purge and vent scopes
Client: Major North Sea operatorScope: Preparation for heavy lift Location: Southern North Sea Date: 2015 - 2017
Bilfinger Salamis worked closely with a major operator as it decommissioned nine satellite platforms in the Southern North Sea.
During late life operations, Bilfinger changed the client‘s paint specification, reducing cost and application time across the whole field. This involved alternative surface preparation techniques and alternative equipment to suit the ageing assets‘ needs.
Over the three year period, Bilfinger mobilised and managed an offshore workforce of 30-60 multi-skilled operatives, including scaffolders, riggers, welders, platers, electricians, pipe fitters, mechanical fitters and rope access technicians.
The project was delivered on time and within budget. Following this project, Bilfinger were asked to support the decommissioning of the field‘s main asset.
