Maybe you’ve noticed that every piece of clothing or apparel in our store has a small “Fair Trade Certified” label on the tag. By partnering with Fair Trade USA, we’ve made it possible to pay fair wages to the people who create our clothes and bring you quality clothing at the same time. In addition to providing a fair price to creators for their goods, your purchase may be able to help someone else financially. According to the Fair Trade USA website, Fair Trade Certified(TM) products are cre- ated with “…respect to people and planet.” They are a nonprofit entity that leads the United States in Fair Trade goods. Their mission is to encourage people to be more mindful of their shopping habits and to create a “Conscious Consumer” as well as help put an end to the exploitation of oth- ers’ hard work. For more information on our partnership or Fair Trade USA, please ask a representative in our store or visit C&Wapparel.com or fairtradeusa.org. Happy shopping! We Love Free Trade Janelle Monae Walked into C&W Apparel! Singer/actress and fashion icon Janelle Monae walked into C&W and expressed that she was impressed with our dedication to Fair Trade goods. For anyone who doesn’t know, Janelle Monae is a singer, songwriter, and more recently, an actress. She played famous NASA mathematician Mary Jackson in the movie “Hidden Figures,” which was just released last December. Not to mention the success of her songs like “Yoga” and “Electric Lady.” If you’ve never heard of her, feel free to check out her music and thank us later. More importantly, Janelle has an impeccable sense of style. She often blends masculine and feminine styles to create one that is her own. Her signature suit and coiffed hair is reminis- cent of James Brown in his prime, yet she still manages to keep it feminine. She’s also been known to wear some daring designs on the red carpet, but she’s opted for a particularly femi- nine look as of late. According to Vogue’s web- site she even attended Paris Fashion Week in short cropped dresses and fur coats. We at C&W Apparel are inspired by her and hope to see her at London Fashion Week this fall. “AfroPunk” Festival: Los Angeles 2017 C&W Apparel will be attending the “AfroP- unk” Festival right here in our home city of Los Angeles this summer. We will have a stall open with some select clothing and apparel picked es- pecially for this event. Contact the C&W Apparel shop or the “AfroPunk” Los Angeles committee for more details.

Three Fashion Tips for College StudentsOn the Go

.

•Buy for cuteness and comfort

•Dress appropriately for the weather

•Be organizedThe first tip is to buy cute and com-

fortable. When walking around on a col-lege campus going to multiple classes, youwant to look good, but comfort is also apriority. We recommend clothing that iseasy to move in such as a t-shirt dress ora maxi dress paired with a pair of Adidassneakers or sandals; both of which shouldbe relatively easy to walk in.

Our second tip is to dress for theweather. Don’t want to get caught walk-ing to class in the rain or snow with noway to keep yourself dry. It’s safe to sayyou’ll always need a coat of some sort, so,unless you’re willing to buy many differ-ent coats, buy one or two neutral coloredcoats that match just about everything inyour wardrobe. Black and taupe tend towork well with mostly any color.

Our third and final tip is to organizeyour clothes in a way that makes it easyto pick an outfit. You don’t want to becaught 10 minutes before class not know-ing what to wear. Separate your clothesby color, style, or season. This makes get-ting ready much easier, so that you caneasily match them when pressed for time.
