Who we are and what we do?Inspiring Communities Together (ICT) has built on the successes of the NDC Regeneration Programme which operated across the neighbourhoods of Charlestown and Lower Kersal (CHALK), East Salford for ten years from 2000 –2011.

ICT started out in 2011 as management group called DFG (CHALK) with core funding for the organisation coming via the payment of an annual annuity based on the value of the assets purchased during the NDC programme, the terms of which are set out in the Annuity agreement signed by both Salford City Council and the Development Framework Group (DFG) (Charlestown and Lower Kersal - CHALK) dated 16 February 2011. The annuity agreement is in place until 2047.

The organisation has continued to develop and grow and in 2014 changed its name to better reflect the work it now does and became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) using the membership model (any-one who lives, works or volunteers in Charlestown and/or Lower Kersal and agrees to abide by the terms and conditions of the membership) can apply to become a member. The organisation is now known as Inspiring Communities Together.

The delivery approach is built on a Test and Learn Asset Based model using the Annuity funding to test ideas and approaches within CHALK and use the learning to scale up projects locally or use the learning to sell the approach. Developed over the past six years this approach now secures funding through contracts and grants and delivers projects wider than CHALK but any surplus income generated is for reinvestment back into the Neighbourhood of CHALK.

The model Builds on strengthens and assets within neighbourhoods to create positive change, providing space and support for community voice to tell their story and work with that story to strengthen community participation. Building on individual and group stories we facilitate conversation to aid positive change within neighbourhoods ranging from community action to co-design and production of services to bring about changes which improve people’s lives.

ICT – Who we are Vision, Mission, Organisational Objectives and Values

Vision – A place where everyone has the opportunity to achieve their full potential and participate in making a positive difference to their neighbourhood.

Mission – We will achieve  positive outcomes for local people based on the knowledge understanding and information that the community have about their area, through empowering individuals and groups to release their potential to develop their own solutions.
