Distinguished Members of AGT Family, My Esteemed Friends,

Turkey is a country that is always struggling with difficulties due to its geographical position, political instabilities of the neighbouring countries and economic developments. We are having the days in which we will start 2018 by keeping our hopes alive while leaving behind a year of such struggles.

The year 2017 has been difficult in every sense. However, especially the credits, released by the Credit Guarantee Fund to the markets at the beginning of the year, enabled swift spinning of the wheels in the economy among these problems and closure of the year with considerable growth rates as compared to the previous period.

Our sector has also achieved developments in parallel with these growth rates and is closing the year with positive figures that will enable it to look at the future with hope.

We, as AGT, are leaving another year behind with success. We are taking firm steps forward to be a market maker and a pioneer brand that is constantly followed both in export and Turkish markets.

With these efforts, AGT has ranked 6th in all the sectors in the ranking of “the Rising Companies” announced this year and has risen to the 1st place in our sector. These results both make us happy and naturally increase our responsibilities. 2018 will be a year filled with the responsibilities and requirements for Customer Satisfaction, Quality, Innovations and Leadership for us, as always. We will continue moving on with all our colleagues, suppliers and business partners with the strategies and targets we will share in the International Business Partner Meeting we will hold in Antalya at the beginning of the year.

With these feelings and thoughts, I wish that next year will bring us first health and then, prosperous days.

Great interest in the Digital Platform

Autumn colours, winter trends

We had the chance to launch our new products and Digital Platform Project at the Intermob Fair, where trends in the fields of wood, forest products and technologies were set.

The digital platform, which gives our customers the opportunity to view the look of their living spaces before purchasing the product, received great attention from the visitors. Our new mobile application which views the product colour charts, tracks orders, contains pricing information and which will allow us to follow up assembly processes will go live in January 2018.

We presented to the taste of the participants our brand-new products reflecting the warmth of wood which we designed inspired by the natural beauty of the season with autumn. The world’s fashion met the visitors with the flooring series ‘’Concept’’ designed inspired by “Natura Line / Plus” and ‘’Milano’’’ series that carry the natural colours and texture of the nature and are separated from each other by means of joints, and the new flooring series of the brand became the centre of interest of the fair. We presented ‘’Legno’’, the nature’s miracle and new 14 mm laminate flooring series, ‘’Natura Slim/Large’’ series, which can be preferred in different thicknesses, and ‘’Bella’’ series, which will carry fresh colours to venues this season, to the taste of the visitors at the fair for the first time. The 11 new colours, added to the AGT Panel, received thumbs up from the participants.

WE HOSTED THE PRESS RELEASE

Star of the Fairs: AGT We represented our brand at Intermob 2017, Isfahan and Tabriz Woodex Trade Fairs.

We, as the pioneer brand of the sector, were delighted to host the event ‘’Press Release for September Export

Figures’’ organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly.

Şirzat Subaşı, the General Manager, shared the export targets of AGT with the participants at the Press Release Event in which Fatih Metin, the Minister of Economy, Münir Karaloğlu, the Governor of Antalya, Menderes Türel, the Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, and Mehmet Büyükekşi, the Chairman of the TEA, also participated. He underlined that we took firm steps forward confidently on our way to becoming the sector’s leading brand with our Industry 4.0 work, Digital Transformation Project, new investment thrusts and R&D work. Mehmet Büyükekşi, the Chairman of the TEA, shared the export figures of the past month with the participants. Büyükekşi said; “We have been announcing increases in exports since November of the last year.

We are confident and hopeful that we, with our determination, will achieve the export target of $ US 156.5 billion of this year announced in the Medium-Term Program.” Turkey’s exports in September increased by 8.9% and rose to $ US 11 billion 337 million. According to data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TEA), exports in the last one year increased by 9% and rose to $ US 153 billion 24 million. The leading sectors of export were automotive, garment and chemistry, and exports to the biggest five markets including Germany and the USA increased.

Turkey’s 50 most successful General Managers determined

Great interest in our advertisement “What’s Innovation”

Business Life examined Turkey’s most successful General Managers. Şirzat Şubaşı, our General Manager, was on the list, and it was shared with the participants how AGT successfully managed trends in the sector in the light of the expectations.

AGT organized another successful advertising campaign on social media. Our advertising film, shot by Muhabbet Reklam Ajansı, widely published especially on Youtube, Instagram and Facebook pages, attracted great interest from digital media users.

We came together with distinguished representatives of the national and local media at the event ‘’Press Release for September Export Figures’’ organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly.

The participation in the event was intensive in which AGT’s new targets and projects became the main topic of conversation.

Our brand which combines wood with technology and design continues to spend a year full of success with innovations it has brought to the sector in digitalization and product innovation by closely following up the technology. We continue our works we have been doing within the framework of digital conversion without slowing down.

We were awarded the first prize in the region with the rise of 30 ranks in this year’s list of ISO 500 and the third prize in the section of “Export Foreign Currency Revenue” in the category of “Foreign Currency Earning Services”. Also, we received the Innovation Award, given for the first time this year, for the “Digital Platform Project” we carried into effect in order to furnish services to the world more easily and to remove the borders. We have managed to be the first brand received an award in the field of marketing innovation in its sector.

Our brand, the “Innovation Champion” of the last year, was awarded the Silver Winner prize in the category of “Fast Implementation” this year under the SAP 2017

Quality Awards for the project ‘’Success Factors’’ which aims at achieving successful outcomes in Human Resources processes.

AGT that is the only national brand using Success Factors, the human resource software of SAP, Europe’s largest business applications company, has also been the first and only company that SAP has awarded a prize with this project. Moreover, according to the Survey ‘’Turkey’s Most Social 500 Companies’’ conducted by Business Life Magazine, we have managed to be the most admired and most social company in the sector.

We welcomed our Iranian business partners and their sub-dealers in our facility. After the product presentation, the visitors visited our production facility.

Full Support from AGT to YGA Summit 2017

We continue to meet with sector representatives! In the seminar we held in Kuşadası, we shared all details about our brand and products with the participants. The event in which we met Yelkenoğlu, our Business Partner, and their sub-dealers received an intense interest from the participants.

The 22th SAP Forum 2017 took place at the Istanbul Congress Centre this year. We were among the guest speakers in the forum with private discussions and new demos included customer transformation stories from around the world and Turkey on many topics such as the innovation platform Leonardo, Industry 4.0 transformation, Smart Cities, Trade Networks, Digital Board of Directors. We shared with the participants AGT’s integration to the new industrial revolution and digital transformation process of AGT. Also, we were granted an award for our project ‘’SAP Success Factors’’, one of the largest cloud platforms in the world aimed at achieving successful outcomes in human resources processes. The project ‘’SAP Success Factors’’, jointly managed by the Human Resources and IT Departments, was awarded the Silver Winner prize in the category of Quick Implementation at the SAP 2017 Quality Awards Event. We, as AGT, are pleased to receive the first prize SAP Turkey has awarded with this project and be the only national brand that uses all the modules of Success Factors.

The YGA Summit, organized by Young Guru Academy, a non-governmental organization that carries out project and imagination development-oriented studies by university students, welcomed 2500 students at Istanbul Zorlu Centre this year.

Leading business people of Turkey made inspirational speeches to young guests at the event in which Mr. Mehmet Semih Söylemez, Board Member, was among the speakers.

We reached the highest MDF production in October!

In October 2017, we reached the highest production capacity in MDF production compared to previous periods. We thank all our friends and colleagues who contributed.

Our R&D Centre is Growing

New laboratory in our R&D Centre, opened in December last year, has came into service. Opening The laboratory was toured followed by the ribbon cutting at the gathering in which Mr. Mehmet Semih Söylemez, our Member of the Board, made the opening speech.

Our Product Expertise Training Started with the Participation of Sales and Export TeamsThe ‘’Product Expertise Training’’, planned with the aim of maximizing our knowledge and awareness about our product portfolio and production processes, was launched.

The Production Department Managers shared important information during the process in which the Sales and Export Teams involved. On-site training was carried out in Quality Laboratories as well as pre-test/post-test practices.

Our Mechanical Maintenance Technicians Participated in the Exam for Professional Competence CertificateSince the Ministry of Labour and Social Security requires Professional Competence Certificate for professions listed in the category of “Dangerous and Very Dangerous”, our 23 colleagues, employed as Mechanical Maintenance Technicians, entered both the written and practical exams in three groups in one day. On-site training was performed in Quality Laboratories.

Seminars for 14001 Environmental Management System and 27001 Information SecurityInformation meetings were held in order to raise awareness of our duties and responsibilities about 14001 Environmental Management System and 27001 Information Security System.

2nd Group Process of Expert Leaders in our School StartedIn the Expert Leaders School process, our first group completed their three training and one interim evaluation, and the new period began for our second group. The steps to be taken that would be followed during the school process were mentioned.

Meeting of Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety

We are working with our strength to make ‘zero work accident’ practices that we aim within the scope of our ‘Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety’ program a part of our corporate culture.

In this context, we came together with our colleagues in “Kick Off” meeting which we held in MDF Sanding Line area. Mr. Can Alataş, our OHS Consultant, provided information about our joint targets relating to the program in which Mr. Durmuş Türkmen, our OHS Manager, was moderator and made the opening speech. Following the speech of Mr. Şirzat Subaşı, our General Manager, Ali Sahin İlter, our colleague and the winner of our OHS slogan contest, was awarded with a plaque.

We Held Information Meetings on Transition to the Gross Wage System

We are transitioning to the gross wage system in 2018. In this context, we organized information meetings with our Directors and Foremen with the lecturing by Cihan Alp, our Human Resources Director.

Central Security & Health Committee Convened

We held the 3th Central Security & Health Committee Meeting, conducted every month with the participation of Mr. Şirzat Subaşı, our General Manager, within the scope of the “Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety” program. Agenda of the next month was created in the meeting in which activities of the program committees, OHS processes and occupational accidents were evaluated.

Street Photography Workshop Team Met in Kaleiçi!

We came together with 20 colleagues to catch different frames in the colourful streets of Antalya.

Following the basic and short training we received from Fujifilm Trainers, we had moments of pleasure of experiencing different photo shooting features in Cumhuriyet Square, Kaleiçi and Liman areas.

We Made It Together!

According to the results as of July 2017, we have reached the highest turnover achieved in our Company to date. In this context, we came together with our colleagues. We wholeheartedly congratulate all our team-mates for their contributions to this success which made us all proud.

AGT Running Club ran “In Pursuit of Goodness” in the Istanbul Marathon!

The 39th Istanbul Marathon was held with the participation of approximately 125 thousand participants. We, as AGT, took our place in the starting point with our 15 runners. Gökhan Günay, our Flooring Operator, ranked the first in men category in the AGT Running Club with his score of 45.21; and Çağla Yaylacı, our Finance Specialist, ranked the first in women category with her score of 01.03.

Could you tell us about yourself briefly?

I was born in Kastamonu. I settled in Antalya in 2013 to become a family member of AGT and I have been working in AGT for about 5 years. I am married for 3 years, and we are counting days for our baby. I like to do sports, go to the cinema and spend time with aquarium fish in my free time. I was assigned in the installation stage of MDF press line when I first started to work for AGT. Then, upon the start of the impregnation line installation, me and my team-mates carried out the installation of the machine in our area of responsibility. We started production on the line “Impregnation 1” in March 2014 for the first time. We maintained continuity by providing my team-mates with training on transfer needed to achieve together during this period. I was in the team again in 2016 with the start of the installation of the line “Impregnation 2”. I have been proudly continuing my foreman duty from the first day in the Company to date.

How does it feel to be a foreman in AGT and what responsibilities does it bring?

Being a foreman in AGT is proud to me because we have a start-up period and an effort made herein. It makes me proud that our colleagues working in our team respect this effort, improve themselves and contribute to the work.

I think that the responsibilities of being a foreman will vary by everyone who works. First of all, the corporate culture, corporate ethics and politics must first be embraced and implemented by team leaders. Such behaviours contribute to occupational safety, quality, production and environmental policy in our team. We constantly follow the process without regard to time in order to overcome any production problems that arise, to prevent stopping of production lines and to maintain quality. We also take care of the ideas and opinions of our team-mates and to ensure that the relations are sound in the evaluation process.

Can you tell us about your story of being employed by AGT?

I was assigned in Romania by the company I worked for in the same sector before joining AGT family. I stayed in Romania for about 2 years and I figured out in this period that AGT made investments and some of our managers started to work there. After 4 days of returning to Turkey, interviews with AGT started.

What are your dreams and goals for 2018?

First of all, I wish 2018 will be a fertile year full of health and peace without any occupational accidents in which quality production is made and records are broken.

My goals for 2008 are to take an active role in the new investments to be made about the facility I am responsible for, to achieve a sustainable development especially in the TPM process, to increase the commitment of my colleagues that I lead to the Company, to strengthen communication within the team and to contribute to the continued growth of the Company.

How do you see the future of AGT?

I think that AGT is a leading brand that is taken as an example in the sector and in the world because it has a structure that operates quality oriented, values its employees and can reach the targets that it sets.

Could you tell us about yourself briefly?

I was born in 1982 in Kırşehir. I graduated from the Department of Woodworking Industrial Engineering, Hacettepe University in 2006. After graduation, I stayed in America for some time under the WAT program during which I engaged in mountaineering for two years. I settled in Antalya in 2007 and started to work in a different company. My path crossed with AGT when working in that company, and I started work in AGT as a door production engineer in 2010. A year later, I was promoted and assigned as the panel production manager. I got married in 2012 and my son Kuzey joined us in 2015. I completed my MBA education in 2015. In 2016, I took the charge of Director of Door and Panel Production. I am currently working as Director of Panel and Profile Production.

Could you tell us how was the year 2017 for AGT in terms of panel production? What are our capacity and targets for 2018?

AGT Panel continued to grow in 2017, as well. We can say that a growth of about 15% has been achieved for 2017, by reviewing the past 10-month data. In this sense, we have had a positive year, and budget-related work for 2018 has started. We are targeting a growth of around 20% for 2018. The growth will gain further momentum with the initiation of our Iranian investment in the last quarter of 2018.

Could you tell us about our Iranian investment?

Iran is the largest market for our panel product group and AGT, as well. It is also one of the markets where our brand is extremely strong. Investment decision has been taken to strengthen our position and increase our competitive power in this market. The Iranian investment is planned in three phases. The investment will start only with the panel production facility in the first phase. In the second and third phases, investments for MDF Lam, Flooring and Profile production lines are planned. The first phase of the investment is expected to be operational in November 2018. The first phase is expected to serve with a closed area of approximately 27000 m2 and a staff of approximately 150 people.

What are your dreams and goals for 2018?

This investment is the first foreign investment of our company. So, my biggest target for 2018 will be that the Iranian plant starts production successfully in accordance with the investment schedule. Experience and achievements that we will have in this process can lead our company to new investments.

How do you see the future of AGT?

In fact, when we look at AGT’s recent past, it is clearly seen how our future will look. As a matter of fact, our company is becoming a more powerful global brand day by day.

A Heavenly PlaceCanada, located in the north of the United States, has a coast both to the Atlas Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The country with very long shores in the Ice Sea neighbours the US only on land. The surface area of Canada with the longest shoreline of the world with 202 thousand kilometres accounts for 7% of the world’s total surface area and about 41% percent of the American continent. Despite its surface area of 10 million square kilometres, a large part of the country’s population is concentrated in certain regions, particularly in regions close to the southern US border. 46% of its terrestrial surface area of 9.1 km2 consists of forests.

Canadian Economy on Sectoral BasisIn Canada, adopt the free-market economy, the state’s economic intervention in the economy is a little more prominent than the US, although not as much in the European countries. First of all, could you please tell us about yourself and your company?

Commonwealth Plywood and its affiliated companies have an annual sales volume of 300 million Canadian dollars and employs over 1,000 workers in Canada and the United States.

The distribution section offers a complete and innovative range of products, consisting of premium quality products from reputable global suppliers to meet the needs of kitchen and cabinet producers, architects, designers and wood workers.

Could you tell us your story with AGT?

We have been introduced to AGT for the first time by their producer representative at that time in the spring of 2015. We told them that we were interested in supplying High Gloss and Super Matt coatings and special decorative panels and felt that we had to discover opportunities with export suppliers seemed to have a wider product range. In October 2016, we hosted the Wood Expo Design in order to bring together all our suppliers, including AGT, branch and sales managers, internal and external sales teams, manufacturing customers and the Architecture and Design community, to determine projects, to introduce different materials being used day by day to the Design Community through CEU (Continuous Educational Units) seminars and to attend a fair event in which suppliers could address product knowledge training of our staff themselves at first hand.

During this event, we officially launched the proposal of AGT offering a complete marketing program to all our staff from 21 distribution centres with a series of presentations.

Can you evaluate the year 2017 for your company and the industry? What are your expectations in 2018?

In 2017, we will double our volume of orders expected to reach a sales volume of $ US 2.5 million throughout the year comparing to the previous year.

At the beginning of 2018, we will add five new decorations to our first starting target for a total of 22 decorations offered in various options such as 1-sided and 2-sided, 16 mm and 18mm, edge band and laser-edge custom size wardrobe lid programs. Also, in the first quarter of 2018, we will add 10 trend decorations from AGT’s newest designs, concentrating on the more commercial Design Series. We expect to increase our sales by 50% in 2018.

Could you share with us your expectations and thoughts about AGT?

The success and rapid growth of AGT can be attributed to its excellent communication with our partner, its investments in superior manufacturing technologies, its interest in customer services and devoted team, its marketing support and training of our sales team. All of this made it possible for us to reach our market potential quickly. AGT has been a perfect partner to work together because of its willingness to listen, host and think about our initiative and feedback. At the end of the day, world economies and markets are changing every year in an increasing proportion, and how well you are adopting and adapting these changes will determine how competitive you will remain. Natura Slim & Large Series with narrow and wide sizes bring the peace of nature to living spaces with their synchronized surface texture and 8 mm thickness that feels real wood. Natura Slim & Large Series can be used together because their flooring designs are the same. Legno Lamine Series, which makes a difference with its 14-mm thickness, carries traces of the world’s forests. AGT floorings are very easy to apply thanks to its patented clicking system, do not separate over time and save time. The AGT’s Head Office stands out with its new and striking interior design. Designed by YALIN TAN + PARTNERS in 2014, the venue offers an ideal working environment with flexible usage possibility. Wooden material used in various fields of the project from the roof to the partition walls, to the furniture both reflects the AGT’s corporate identity and stands out as an element strengthening the design aesthetically and functionally.

“YALIN TAN + PARTNERS”, designer of the project that sets an example of the creative use of wood in interior design, describes the design approach as follows: “The starting point of our design team was not only the purpose of creating an aesthetic and functional building, but also bringing the venue together with colourful, surprising and dynamic solutions taking into account the technical strengths in the direction of the AGT team’s view of the world.

It was aimed that the building with a humanistic approach to be life-oriented, human-focused, multi-purpose and dynamic. Flexibility and multi-functionality were the desired set-up. It was aimed that seating sections in the office to offer employees the flexibility to carry out their desktop works in different spaces and that ‘’the awareness that value attached to employees will increase the performance’’ to manifest itself throughout the project. Different seating alternatives enabled to offer both group and individual work opportunities. The use of wooden materials and warm spaces to be provided thereby were included as much space as possible in parallel with the AGT’s target of creating a venue that reflects AGT’s wood/wooden material production power and capacity and the concept.
