ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

All international applicants are required to demonstrate English proficiency if English is not your native language. Test scores must be sent directly from the testing authority or institution and must be completed within the past two years.

• A minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based) with no subset score lower than 18 for all students whose native language is not English

• A minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (with no band below 6.0) for all students whose native language is not English

• A minimum SAT Critical Reading score of 500 or SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 510

• A minimum PTE Academic score of 53

• A minimum ACT Composite score of 23

If you feel that you have demonstrated English proficiency in a way not mentioned above, please contact us at [email protected] to discuss. If you meet all the requirements except for English proficiency, Merrimack College has conditional admission options.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND AID

While only U.S. citizen or permanent resident applicants are eligible for financial aid, we automatically consider international students for merit scholarships toward the total cost of attendance. The awards are based on previous academic achievement and will be included in the offer of admission.

International Student SupportThere are many resources on campus for students who are new to the United States. At Merrimack, it is easy to join the community through any of our 60+ student organizations. We also host special events throughout the year to celebrate diversity and remind you of home. Below are just a few of the ways you can get involved or find support:

• Comprehensive International Student Orientation, including an airport welcome

• Peer mentoring program to help you become immersed into the Merrimack community

• Dedicated academic counselor, based on your major

• Dedicated career advisor, based on your major and career interest

• Immigration and visa support

• Student activities and varsity, club, and intramural sports

• Special events throughout the year, such as Diwali Festival of Lights and Holi Festival of Colors
