*We finished sharing our special treasure bags and began sharing our family handprints. We talked about whose hand is the biggest, whose is the littlest, and how many people are in our families. Awesome! Language Arts/Fine Motor Skills:

* We met Mr. B. He has beautiful buttons! * We made B’s with play dough. * We learned how to print a capital B. * We thought of 44 words that begin with B! Please help your child think of C words for next week. * We glued buttons on a capital B and stuck foam circles and ovals on our B page to make balloons. We had to take the paper off the back of the shape stickers. * We used our glue sticks to glue tissue paper rectangles on a balloon. The children did a great job – they used the glue sticks by themselves! * We popped the bubbles in bubble wrap, squeezed sand balloons, and sprayed water bottles; all these activities strengthen our fine motor muscles. * On Friday we colored pictures that begin with B; we had to listen to the beginning sound of each picture.

STEAM:

* We learned about bubbles! We learned that bubbles are always round and that they have air inside. Then we blew bubbles! * We sorted buttons. We made groups of colors; then we talked about why Ms. Carrie put some buttons in a group. (They were all circles.) * We learned about the number 2 and rainbow traced a 2.

* We dot art painted 2 “bubbles” on each page of our “Color Bubbles” book. * We made our own butter! Yum! * We bounced balls. * We played “Beach Ball Math”: we had to count the number of happy faces on a beach ball. We also played “Balloon Toss”! * We played “Bean Bag Challenge”: we rolled a dot cube and had to toss the bean bag on the number card that corresponded to the number of dots on the cube! * Our “Storytime STEAM Challenge” this week was to make a barn out of Legos big enough to hold our farm animal toys. We did this after reading Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown.

Art:

* We “monoprinted” with blue paint: the children made a design in blue paint and then we transferred our design onto paper!
