We are so happy you have joined us for our Virtual VBS Month! We may not be able to gather on
campus for VBS this year, but Calvary Kids is brining Virtual VBS to your home for the month of June! Look up – way up. That's where we're headed. Where I-beams float effortlessly high overhead, carefully guided
into place by powerful machinery. Where steel and glass converge in a colossal design that appears to almost
touch the sky. These magnificent structures were elaborately designed and intricately built. Yet they all began
the same way – with concrete and cranes, rivets and rebar, bulldozers and backhoes; and most importantly, a
solid foundation. This month, Calvary Kids will don their hard hats and head out to the construction site to
discover that skyscrapers aren't the only things that need a rock solid foundation.
During VBS, kids will discover that Jesus' love provides a foundation that will last. When the storms of life
come, they'll need the One who will be with them to the end of the age. When anxiety sets in, they'll need the
assurance that true worth comes from being a child of God, not from what other people think about them. When
they feel unworthy, they can remember that Jesus loved them enough to die for them. They'll learn to be wise
builders who continue in what they've learned and firmly believe. And they will discover that He who began a
good work will be faithful to carry it on to completion. We're all a work in progress.
Life is a hard hat zone. But just wait until you see what God will do!

The House on the Rock (Matthew 7:24-29) One time, Jesus taught a lesson. He said, “People who hear what I say, believe, and obey
are like the wise man who built his house on the rock. When the rain came, the rivers rose, and the winds blew hard on the house, it didn’t fall because it was built on a solid foundation. People who don’t pay attention to My words are like the foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain came, the rivers rose, and the winds blew hard on his house. It fell down with a big crash!” Jesus taught this lesson to help us understand that God will help us know how to live.

VBS Week 4 Discussion Questions
Hey families! After you watch the week one VBS video from the Calvary Kids website, use these
discussion questions to drill deeper into the foundation and cement all that you are learning!
There are two different sets of questions: some for our preschool and kindergarten construction
workers, and others for our older construction workers. More experienced construction workers
(middle school students, parents, grandparents, whoever!) are also welcomed to share their
answers to these questions. Everyone has something important to contribute on this
construction site!
Week 4 Discussion Questions, Preschool-Kindergarten:
1. Last week in Jackhammer Music, we used the song “Blueprint” to memorize the ABC’s
of salvation! Can you remember what the three words were that the letters A, B, and C
stood for? Draw a picture of or act out a person doing each of those three things!
2. Have you ever built a sandcastle? If you have, was it easy or hard to knock it over once
you built it? Now, push on one of the walls in your house and see if you can knock it
over. The Bible says that when we choose to build our lives on Jesus, we are choosing
to build a solid house that cannot be knocked over by anything, instead of a sandcastle!
3. Do you know anyone who does not know Jesus? If you do, what is something that you
or your family could do to show them that Jesus loves them?
Week 4 Discussion Questions, 1st-5th Grade:
1. It is time for the ultimate Philippians 1:6 challenge! Have every member in your family
who has been practicing memorizing this verse sit together in a circle. Starting on the
first word of the verse, have each member of the family say the next word in the verse,
going around in a circle until you reach the end! If someone forgets a word, that is ok! Be
sure to help them out. Remember that great construction takes teamwork!
2. In Excavator Missions, we have been learning about our oikos and what it means to be a
disciple maker. As a family, talk about who all is in your oikos, and what your plans are
to use the gifts God has given you to make disciples!
3. Last week in Jackhammer Music, we used the song “Blueprint” to memorize the ABC’s
of salvation! Can you remember what they were? Review them together as a family
(bonus points if you can sing them and do the motions!).
Missions Challenge:
This month we have learned how we can be a missionary in our own neighborhoods. Provide an
opportunity for your family to put these Missionary Steps into practice. You might consider
hosting a pool party with friend (with proper distancing guidelines), gather with friends at the
park, or take brownies to a neighbor and look for opportunities to share the Gospel.
