Hello Joana! I'm Pello's teacher. I am very happy with the investigation work that you give us. We are learning a lot, and what's more, we can all use the computer now, no problem.

We can find out practically anything and travel to the most amazing places. We've also met lots of students and teachers from other parts of the world.

Today we are going to hold an in class, just like the Greeks did in the Athens agora. And we're going to talk about .

assembly

Greek democracy

We have to lay down some rules to ensure that the debate and discussion are conducted in an orderly manner.

In small groups, answer these questions and discuss them until you reach a consensus.

1.- If you were Greek citizens, could all of you have participated in this Assembly?

2.- Is Greek democracy a good way of governing a city? Why/Why not?

3.- Is it possible to govern a class, house, group of friends, etc. democratically? How?(Choose one of the options as an example).

4.- In order to organise a group in a democratic way, you need to make some laws. In Athens, who made the laws by which the city was governed? Did they do their job properly?

5.- When the laws were broken, the people's courts passed judgement. But who made up these courts? Do you think they judged fairly?

One member of each group should write down their conclusions and read them at the end to the Assembly.

Each person should choose a question and explain the group's answer to the class, stating reasons and giving explanations.

The agreements reached during the Assembly should be recorded in a final document (the minutes).

We Greeks and Romans have always been great thinkers. We have always liked to talk about and debate our ideas. What do you think of this quote?

As you can see, we Greeks have contributed much to modern-day Europe. Here are some which will help you
