PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Last week I had the pleasure of helping out at the District Swimming Carnival being held in Logan. It was a great experience and what was even better was the participation from our students. They all performed really well in what was an exceptionally hot day. In light of these hot temperatures, please keep reminding your child/ren to take frequent drinks of water during the day to stay hydrated. I recently updated the P&C about our plans to modernise the Newsletter and its distribution. We have spoken to our current newsletter supplier and we will moving our Newsletter online. In the interim, all the OLDEST in the family will still receive a newsletter printed to take home. As we have a database of parent contact details and emails, we will use these to email a link to the Newsletter, which will be located online. As we move to the new format, we will be increasing the content and media within the newsletter, so video’s from staff as well as podcasts and colour picture galleries. Unfortunately, with the printed copies, obviously the interactive content, videos etc, will not be available. If you have any questions, please call the office. Our new electronic sign has been installed and is functional. This is another way that we can communicate with you. Special dates, pictures and notices will be displayed on the board as well as information about the school. Message from the P and C Last week at the P and C meeting we enjoyed more new members join than we have had join in a long time. It’s great to have more hands and minds adding to what we do for the children and school. We hope that Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 14th March at 3.05pm in the Library will have even more new members join. The AGM will be followed by the monthly general meeting.

As always, all current positions on the Committee will be open for election during the AGM and encourage parents and friends to consider taking up a role on the school’s P&C for 2019.

You may consider becoming…

· President

· Vice-President

· Secretary

· Treasurer Also, co-ordinating and/or supporting the various sub committees; Tuckshop, Uniform shop and Fundraising, which directly support the students.

If you would like any further information on what is expected from these roles, you can visit www.pandcsqld.com.au

The recent P and C survey has given us ideas that will help us change how we operate in the school. The most obvious finding is that the P and C are not communicating well with the parents and carers of the school. We are going to work to change that. As much as we can we will be putting together detailed information and releasing it through the newsletter, online through the school website and through social media sites. We are planning to run regular meet and greet sessions at different times of the day throughout the coming three weeks to plan on how to go forward. The P and C also asks that you actively engage us and ask questions relating to any operation of the P and C. This could be in person, through email or by leaving a note or message that the office. Please contact us on [email protected] or [email protected] if you have any questions. If there is something you want to see happen, become part of the P and C and seek to change it. The AGM is where you can nominate someone or volunteer to become one of the office holders yourself or have a say on who becomes one. It is the best time to have a say in what the P and C do.

5c Fundraiser! We are running the 5c fundraiser. From 4 March until 3pm on 29 March you can bring in your 5c coins and place them in your class’ tin at the office. There will be a pizza party for the class that raises the most money. This will be announced at the disco and the pizza party will be held on Thursday 4 April. All money goes to the P&C fundraising activities for the school. Disco - Save the Date March 29th Community News On the last Thursday of the month is the Jacobs Well and District Progress Association, commencing at 7pm at the Jacobs Well Community Centre. Coffee with a Cop is at Jacobs Well Cafe at 9am on the first Thursday month. As well as at Calypso Bay Harrigan’s Inn 7pm on the last Wednesday in the month. Payments reminder Money collection days are Monday and Wednesday only between 8.30am – 9.30am. Please be aware that any payments made to the school MUST be paid by the due date. Payments made online, will need to be paid a few days earlier as it can take up to 3 days for payments to land in our account. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please speak with Shelley in the office. Thank you for your support.

Please be aware that many invoices are now being sent by email and will usually be received during the day before the information about the event is brought home, so please wait for the note before contacting the office. If you would like to [email protected] with your current email address and child’s name & class and we will update your details.
