Lourdes 2020: The parish pilgrimage to Lourdes was due to take place from
16th to 21st July but unfortunately had to be cancelled due to Covid 19. People
from our parish have travelled on pilgrimage to Lourdes for over 40 years.
Some have travelled many times and are sad not to be able to travel again this
year. A group of young people from the parish had also planned to travel next
week and unfortunately had to cancel too.
On Thursday July 16th, the anniversary of the 18th and last apparition of the
Virgin Mary, the Shrine of Lourdes will host an exceptional e-pilgrimage for
the whole world, which will take place live from the Grotto of the Apparitions.
This extraordinary day will bring together millions of people from all
continents, through television, radio and social networks, under the sign of hope
and solidarity. From 6am to 9pm – there will be broadcasts of the celebrations,
processions, rosaries, prayers etc. A new TV program will take place live from
3pm to 5pm at the Grotto. Religious and civil personalities will follow one
another on the set, testifying to the role that Lourdes plays in their lives. The
cameras will go behind the scenes of this unique place to better explain its
mission. This is an opportunity for past and future pilgrims to join in this time
of reunion, hope and solidarity to reconnect with the spirit of Lourdes.
This e- pilgrimage will bring together all those who, in the four corners of the
world, see Lourdes as a beacon of faith, commitment, sharing and hope. The
world is facing an unprecedented economic and social crisis, coupled with an
unprecedented quest for meaning. The fraternity, generosity and hope that the Shrine has been carrying for 162 years has never been so essential. At Lourdes,
the poor, the frail, the sick and the handicapped have first place. During our
6.30pm Mass next Saturday evening we will join in solidarity with all those
who were to travel to Lourdes this year and pray for the sick and an end to the
virus.
Guidelines
As the Covid 19 numbers appear to be on the rise we have been asked to
highlight the guidelines for churches again for the safety of everyone.
The wearing of a face mask is now strongly recommended when you
visit the church.
1. Please use hand sanitiser when entering and leaving the church.
2. Wearing of a face mask is strongly recommended.
3. Please follow the direction of our stewards.
4. Please only sit in designated areas. (Please only sit in the seats
with the ‘please sit here’ signs and remain in seats for the
duration of the service)
5. Holy Communion can only be received in the hand.
6. People are asked to leave the church slowly and not to gather
outside in large numbers.
7. If you have flu-like symptoms, please remain at home and join
us for Mass via our parish webcam.
8. At all times, be mindful of social distancing
The parish are doing everything we can to keep people safe while
maintaining an atmosphere where people can come to worship in prayer.
Please be mindful of your own and other people’s health at all times. A
big thank you to all our volunteers who sanitize the churches after every
Mass, baptism, wedding, funeral etc. We would not be able to open the
churches at all without them. If you would like to volunteer please
contact the parish centre.

We are delighted to announce that Graiguecullen Swimming Pool will reopen on this Tuesday 14th July
We have been working hard behind the scenes to continue to make our pool a safe and welcoming environment. There are a few things you will need to be aware of when visiting our facility. You will not need to pre-book your pool time. We will be
monitoring numbers in line with Government requirements. Our dedicated staff will be on hand to answer any queries you may have but have a read of the following to
help you along the way… We will be reopening on a phased basis so there will be no lessons or Sauna & Steam
Room until further notice. Anyone that had booked a camp or lessons will be contacted in due course. When lessons do return, we will prioritise anyone that
missed out on lessons last term. We would advise people to arrive “beach ready” – have their togs already on under
their clothes, where possible. This will lessen their time in the cubicle and more swimming time!
Showers will be available for a quick rinse only, before and after your swim. Please be reassured that staff have been trained in a new cleaning and sanitising
regime to follow throughout the day, in addition to the existing one. We would like to advise people that depending on numbers allowed indoors, the
viewing area will be restricted. We are allocating 9am-11am Monday to Friday for people in our community who are
most vulnerable. Our timetable will be updated every week and can be viewed on our Facebook page or pick up a copy at the pool. We do not have card payment facility at the moment. We are looking forward to seeing everyone soon but if you are feeling unwell or are
showing any symptoms of Covid-19 such as a high temperature, cough, breathing difficulties or generally feeling unwell please don’t visit us just yet, we will welcome
you when you are better. (see parish website for further information)
Please note there is a major fault on the main telephone line to the parish centre and we have
been unable to retrieve any messages that were left on the machine. If you wish to contact
