PREFACEWhen you asked Jesus Christ to be your personal Savior, your life changed; it may not seem like it changed much now, but your future and the choices and decisions you make will be different from what they would have been without Jesus.

This booklet has been prepared to help you understand what happened when you received Jesus as your Savior and to also tell you what you can look forward to in this new life with Him.

On the following pages, you will learn much about who God is and how to build a relationship with Him. As you find answers in God’s Word (the Bible) to the lessons we will go over, you may have other questions that come to mind. Please write them down and we’ll search the Bible together for the answers to your questions.

Please call me anytime you may need my help.

HOW TO USE THIS BOOKLETThis booklet is a Bible study designed to help you understand God’s Word and how it applies to your daily life with Jesus. To complete this study you will need to have a good Bible.

Each lesson is written to help you grow in your Bible knowledge and your relationship and responsibility to Jesus. Your coach will assist you in any way possible. If you get “stuck” on a question, go on to the next one and come back when you are done or wait until your coach can help you.

The way these Bible lessons are put together makes them both easy and fun. As you use this Bible study, our prayer is that you will grow step by step in your Bible knowledge. Also, we pray that your relationship with the Lord will grow greatly.

Lesson 1

MEETING YOUR HEAVENLY FATHERKEY VERSE: John 1:12

Bridge of Life

Listen closely as your coach goes over the “Bridge of Life” picture.Whose family were we all in when we were born? ______________(Romans 3:23). What gift did God offer to you so you could go to heaven? ____________ ___________ (Romans 6:23).

When you put your faith and trust in Jesus and believed in Him asyour personal Savior, you became a member of whose family?_________ (John 1:12). You are now a child of God. You havebeen adopted into His family and God is now your HeavenlyFather.

Take time right now to pray and thank God for becoming your Heavenly Father. If you have never put your faith and trust in Jesus and believed in Him as your personal Savior, ask your coach to explain what you need to do.

If you have received the Lord Jesus as your Savior, God is now your Heavenly Father. It is like being adopted into God’s Family. Fill in your name and when you accepted Jesus on the “Spiritual Birth Certificate” your coach has provided for you.

Today you learned that once you put your faith and trust in Jesus and believed in Him as your personal Savior, God became your Heavenly Father. Just like you had a father and mother when you were physically born, now you have a spiritual Father (God) because you have been adopted into His family (Galatians 4:7; 2 Corinthians 6:18).

Today you also learned that God loves you and wants to be your very best friend (Proverbs 18:24). Who is one person whom you love a lot? Why do you love this person? What are some reasons that make it difficult to love someone?

A person’s love for others can be very fragile. When people don’t look or act right, we don’t have the same love for them as we do at other times. God is not like that – He loves at ALL times (no matter how we look or act). In fact, He loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins. God wants us to obey Him and He may have to lovingly discipline us when we don’t; but even when He disciplines us, He still loves us and wants what is best for us.

This week, make an effort to show love to others no matter how they treat you. Try to love like God loves!

God as your Heavenly Father . . .Faith – saves you through your faith in Him, not your works.

Adopts you into His family.

Talks to you from the Bible.

Holy – is without sin.

Everywhere – God is everywhere.

Remember – love others like God loves you.
