The WCAA is looking for pictures of our first 12 years in existance of coaches, other volunteers, registered players and their families enjoying themselves within the programs. We are trying to create a documented history with a video collage and picture repository. Scanned copies with a small caption of what sport, team and year, who is in the picture and what went on, can be sent to Matt Morris at [email protected]. Thank you! We look forward to a rich history of photos from all who have been involved.

Coaches and Parents,

While at the practices, games and tournaments, have your cameras ready and take lots of pictures. Send them to the Publisher, with a description and game information. We will get them in the next issue.

WCAA The WCAA is operated entirely by volunteers. WCAA volunteers serve in a variety of ways, but most of our volunteers get started by coaching or assisting a coach on one of our several hundred teams across the seven unique sports we offer. In addition to coaching, there are several other important volunteer positions needed, such as working in our concession stands or participating in one of our field maintenance day events to help keep our park looking beautiful. A few of our volunteers choose to become more involved in the operations of the WCAA by serving on our Board of Directors. The WCAA has about 30 board positions responsible for the governance of all WCAA programs. Several of the board positions are devoted to operating the individual sporting programs that the WCAA manages. There are other board positions responsible for technology platforms, sponsorships, marketing and communications activities, in addition to collaborating with Pasco County officials regarding a variety of matters.

The WCAA is always looking for new volunteers willing to lend their talents and passions to serving the youth of our community. If you are interested in WCAA volunteer opportunities or have questions, please send an e-mail to: [email protected]. Thank you! Your help matters more than you know!

in the various WCAA sports during an athletic year, the WCAA needs considerable support from the community, both to maintain the quality of its programs and facilities, and to make youth sporting opportunities more available to our less fortunate neighbors. The need for support from sponsors is particularly acute as cuts in parks and recreations budgets result in increasing costs to youth sports programs.

Our 2012-13 Fall Recreational Soccer season has now come to an end with a fun and exciting "End of Season Tournament". There were some very hard fought games and

each team should be congratulated for their effort and enthusiasum. We had 3 championship games go into the evening and one game for U10 Boys was completed

in the dark due to a problem with the lights.....Way to go boys for your commitment to the game. We are now very busy planning for the Spring League and registration is

open and ready for all our young soccer stars. You can find the link to the registration on our website (www.wesleychapelsoccerclub.com). Each year we spend months planning the upcoming season for our kids and each year

the Recreational Soccer Committee gets together to discuss how we can improve our program and make it the best possible. This last season we began a

new program never before seen in any other recreational club by having competitive training staff spend 1 session each week with every U8 through U12 team, taking our kids through a program designed to help improve their technical skills. We have received a lot of positive comments from coaches and parents about this and plan on improving this next year by ensuring the program is retooled to make sure every age group can fully benefit by taking these skills to the games on Saturdays. See you in the Spring.Paul BatsonDirector Recreational Soccer •

LACROSSE SPORTS WCAASPORTS

arriors boys and girls recreational lacrosse season has officially begun. With blue skies and chilly morning temps Warriors teams took to the fields at Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex with enthusiasm. It was here that old and new players experienced the adrenaline of playing “the fastest game on two feet!

The emphasis at the Clearwater Jamboree was not on the number of wins each team produced, but the records show the dynamic effort put out by the Warriors teams.Lady Warriors youth team came away with a 1-1-1 record. Lady Warriors middle school team won 2 of their 3 games. Warriors boys U-13 won all 3 games and although they have a lot of new players, they show a lot of promise for the season.

Best of luck to all the Warriors teams for a dynamic season of lacrosse and remember to honor the game through good sportsmanship! •
