    Monks and Nuns-a man or woman who has chosen to live a life ofprayer.

    -live in a monastery

    -some tasks include taking care of people,

    teaching children and people to read and/or write,meditating, preparing medicine, sewing, plantinggrain, working in the fields, and taking care of the

    monastery's animals.

    - monks and nuns have to take three vows:poverty, chastity, and obedience.

    - go to mass everyday, and pray five times a day.

    -Keep armor and weapons in good shape

    Blacksmiths-the people who made weapons, armor, keys, chains, and

    other tools as well.

    -melt the materials then shape the melted metal into theobjects.

    Society saw blacksmiths as valued people because they

    could either make or break an economy and an army.Their status became greater over some years.

    what materials were available depended on the location ofthe blacksmiths.

    It is said that you should not upset a blacksmith because hecould bend your sword or mess up your armor since he ismaking it.

    -The medieval period was influenced a lot by craft, and theblacksmiths definitely had an impact on this because

    what they were doing was a craft.

    barber- a person who cut hairas an occupation

    carpenter- built variousfurniture, panelling, andengines.

    constable- someone who tookcare of the manor or castlewhen the lord is not there

    ditcher- dug moats, and

    vaults.falconer- cared and trained

    hawks.

    glazers- someone who cutand shaped glass.

    hayward- someone who cared

    laird- small landlord

    marshal- in charge of thehorses, carts, wagons, and

    minstrels- provided

    entertainmentporter- in charge of keeping

    people in or out

    steward- supervised theevents in the castle

    squire- in charge of caring forthe weapons and horses

    scullions- kitchen duty

    shearmen- in charge of

    trimming cloth
