Waynesburg [College] President A.B. Miller viewed the United States Presidential election of 1856 through
the lens of an abolitionist. Hle wrote in his diary that the issue at hand was the
possibility of our country being “... given up to human bondage...” He proudly stated that he and a colleague voted
“... to prevent such a calamity.”
