What is waterproofing?Significance of waterproofingWhen exterior walls are exposed to rainwater or high humidity, water and moisture can travel through the masonry and affect your internal walls. This means that your walls may stay damp for a long time before drying, which may lead to mold growth and irreparable damage. In humid areas like Florida, wall damage due to water penetration . The exclusion of moisture from buildings is therefore not only desirable but also an utmost concern to the residents of the buildings.

In Mumbai, due to heavy rainfall, water seepage through external walls is found to be a common defect faced by the house owners. In one of the surveys conducted on about 10,000 private residential units, findings showed that the use of single layer (4)" brick wall was the most common cause of water seepage through external walls.
