Three schools had managed to get to this final stage and the competition standard was very high. The Perranporth Team gave an incredible performance and showed amazing knowledge to finish the competition in second place! Very well done!

Watering Hole Stars!

On Monday this week our choir made another outing, this time they had a ‘gig’ at The

Watering Hole! They were invited along to sing as part of a folk evening in celebration of

St Piran’s Day. There was a simply fantastic turnout from parents and families with lots

brilliant of support. The choir, alongside Miss MacQuarrie were outstanding! Their singing

raised the roof and certainly did Perranporth and St Piran proud! A huge well done to

the children for such a spectacular performance!

The Welcome

It was a terrible shame that the weather spoilt our plans of celebrating St Piran’s Welcome by

heading down to the Inner Green. However on Tuesday afternoon we did manage to have a

fantastic celebration in our school hall. The children took part in Cornish dancing, some won-

derful singing and a maypole dance too. We welcomed a rather familiar looking St Piran to

Perranporth and heard Mrs Bell tell us the story of how he arrived on our fine beach. It really

was a lovely afternoon well spent celebrating Cornish heritage. Well done Perranporth School!

Quiz Team Final

Another big well done to the Perranporth Quiz Team who this week went along to

the Newquay Schools Quiz Final! Three schools had managed to get to this final

stage and the competition standard was very high. The children had to take part

in four different rounds of challenging questions against pupils from the other

schools. The Perranporth Team gave an incredible performance and showed

amazing knowledge to finish the competition in second place! Very well done!

FOPS Messages

An Enormous thank you to the volunteers who came along to school on Thursday to help make

Perranporth’s mums very happy this weekend. The gift for Mother’s Day fundraiser was ex-

tremely popular and very well supported too. The children really enjoyed having the opportunity to choose some-

thing special for their mums and we’re sure the mums will feel special too! Again, thank you all very much indeed.

Third time lucky for the FOPS meeting! The new date for the meeting is Thursday 15th March straight after drop off in

the morning. Looking forward to seeing lots of parents there and finally getting started!

Kind Book Donation

This week we were very pleased to receive a donation of a rather

special book! Local company Green and Blue donated a copy of

‘The Lost Words’. This book celebrates lots of words from nature that

are disappearing from our dictionaries and common language.

Green and Blue are passionate that these words and our natural

world must be saved and have ensured the children of Perranporth

School will be able to read all about them and very much keep them

alive! A huge thank you to Gavin, Kate and the Team from Green and

Blue for this very kind donation.

Survey Request

A request from Year 3 Teaching Assistant Mrs Rogers…

My name is Angie Rogers and I work in Year 3 as a Teaching Assistant. At present, I am studying

for a BA Honours degree which requires some specific research data on Building Learning Pow-

er. To assist me in completing this module, I would like to invite parents to take part in a small

research study by completing a very short questionnaire via the link below:

Many Thanks

Sport Relief

At Perranporth School we are all really excited to be taking part in Sport Relief 2018! As one of

the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active,

raise money and change lives. This year, Sport Relief will be taking place between Monday 19th

March and Friday 23rd March.

To do our bit and raise awareness we will be completing a range of activities across the school.

In Key Stage One the children will complete daily sporting challenges. In Key Stage Two they will

be running a mile around the top pitch on Friday.

As well as having all this fun we would like to raise some money, so we are asking for children to wear any sports

clothing they would like on Friday the 23rd March and bring a donation of £1. As we’re sure you know the money

raised is spent by Comic Relief to help people living incredibly tough lives, both at home in the UK and across the

world's poorest countries, so please donate all you can, to learn more visit sportrelief.com/schools.

We will also be using Sport Relief as a teaching opportunity so that your children can learn about the

issues other children across the world face, and how the money we raise can help them. We really ap-

preciate your support and hope that you’ll have fun helping our school raise lots of money for Sport Re-

lief!
