“ We continue searching for better answers on how to best design for the management of waste, water and energy.”
Giles Pendleton, Head of development, Attacq
74% of SA’s corporate headquarters are situated in Gauteng and Waterfall is proving a sensible consolidation location. PWC’s iconic tower is already a landmark in the area and Deloitte is a new addition to the number of leading corporations consolidating their operations in the commercial hub. Premier Foods, Novartis, BMW, Builders and Servest are just a few of the top brands who are realising the sustainable benefits of a Waterfall address.

The fact that the Waterfall node has a strong focus on environmentally sustainable development is a question not only of ethics, but also a sound business decision.
Green building is the base standard at Waterfall but the approach reaches beyond pure environmentally-sensitive construction. It is embedded in a total holistic urban design, where work and life intersects. In the South African context, with stricter regulations and rising utility costs and constraints, green design can reduce operating costs and mitigate risk.
As developers, Attacq is committed to growing Waterfall’s environmental sustainability across these important drivers:
• Business sustainability: Are we operating at as low a cost as possible? › Cost-effectiveness and efficiencies of all buildings › Includes energy and water efficiency and waste management
• Operational sustainability: How long can we operate when we lose key services? › Continuity of utility supply through interruptions of service delivery › Includes back-up power for a range of realistic scenarios and water/waste continuity plans
• Environmental sustainability: Are we environmentally conscious? › Being environmentally responsible › Includes green strategy, carbon footprint, light pollution and energy efficiency
