Johor to carry out a Drainage Master Plan Study for Simpang

Renggam Town. The town is located 20 km south of Bandar

Kluang and East of North - South Expressway. The total project

study area is approximately 1000 h.a. Simpang Renggam town

is rapidly developing as key area for small and medium industrial

including housing in the District of Kluang. The topography of the

study Area is generally undulating high land and flood plain

along the water-courses. There are four main streams draining

the project study area : Sg. Benut, Sy. Parit Hj. Yasin and Sg.

Parit Chokro.

Services : The study require the preparation of a Drainage Master Plan for

Simpang Renggam Town which will :-

Identification of existing drainage problems and improvement of

existing drainage facilities. Provide planning information to

ensure that adequate provision are made for future

developments and formulate drainage strategies for the whole

development in accordance with established environmental

norms and standards

Scour at Sungai Langat and Sungai Semenyih Substructure

Description : Sg. Langar and Sg. Semenyih bridges were constructed in mid

1970’s and extended with additional lanes in nearly 1990. These

two bridges links KL and Seremban from part of North South

Expressway. The substructure for the bridges has scoured by

4.0m and 3.0 respectively due possibly to sand mining activity

downstream sometime in 1990’s. Massive gabion retaining walls

titled towards exposed piles caused by undermining of gabion

foundation. Proposal was made to provide emergency protection

to Langat bridge using rock amour. Permanent protection works

comprise:

• R.C retaining wall to support local JKR road reserve (10m)

• Install micro-piles

• Cast base slab

• Fill up exposed piles with concrete to form integrated pile cap

• Rip rap protection on geotextile filter to river bed and river slope
