Our experts will help you to choose the best pumps for your project, corres-ponding to the technical parameters of a given installation. We rent our equip-ment on the basis of a contract of lease. Documents required to sign the agreement:Commercial law companies- Company’s registration documents – excerpt from the commercial registerwith the National Court Register number, certificate of TIN number assig-nment, and National Business Registry Number.
- Written declaration of a person listed in the National Court Register confirmingthe data in the company’s registration documents.

1. Each part of the devices may bedangerous if it is not used accordingto its purpose. At Client’s request ouremployees will demonstrate the safestway of using the equipment.2. The lessee is not allowed to disas-semble rotating parts of pump units.3. The person operating the equip-ment has to wear gloves, boots, andsafety clothes, in particular glasses,safety helmet, and hearing protection.4. The employers are obliged to informtheir employees about the risk ofdeath, and physical injuries duringoperating the rented equipment.5. If the pump body is hot, the deviceshould be turned off until it is comple-tely cooled. During that time it is for-bidden to uncoil or unfasten any partof the pump’s or pipeline’s fittings.6. Damaged device should be remo-ved from operation, and returned tothe supplier. There is a possibility tocall a mobile servicing unit which willprovide maintenance on site. All TPSemployees are trained on mainte-nance of our equipment, health andsafety, as well as first aid.7. Devices with combustion enginesshould not be operated in closed com-
partments without any ventilation. In-haling exhaust fumes may cause da-mage to health, or death.8. Pump units should not be used inplaces of storing flammables, and ex-plosives. Sparks from electrical, andcombustion engines may cause an ex-plosion. 9. In case of need to pump petroleumor flammable liquids, the lessee sho-uld contact TPS. We have dedicatedpumps with EX proof motors to beused in explosion atmosphere.10. Damaged hoses and wires are di-rect causes of accidents. Check themregularly paying attention to: damagednozzles, worn-out and distended insu-lation, leaking hoses.11. If a dangerous liquid goes underthe skin, immediately call for medicalhelp.12. In the case of pumps with electri-cal motors, all connections should bemade by a qualified personnel withproper authorizations.13. Adequate permits to work andsafty meetings on daily basis need tobe provided prior to job execution.

Self-priming pumps are designed to ensure econo-mic and reliable operation in all installations withdifficult access to the pumped liquid. The pumpsautomatically primes at empty and fully open suc-tion pipeline assembly. Possibility to control andmaintain the pump from the ground surface withoutthe need to take the pump out of the pit createscompetitive advantage. These pumps are extre-
mely universal, long life and wear resistant. Commonly used in all industrieswhere harsh environment creates requirements for reliability and functionalityat optimum level. Mud, sludge, drilling fluid, raw sewage, 76 mm in diametersolid handling selfpriming centrifugal pumps are the best choice for executionof variety liquid transfer projects. Pumps are made of ductile iron, grey iron,SST with oil flushed mechanical seals and bearings. Capacity ranges from 25m3/h for to 750 m3/h for single pump. Ability of having pumps mounted in pa-rallel or series configuration ensures flexibility and covers jobs were high ca-pacity at high head is required. Pump units are skid mounted with forkliftpockets and central lifting eye for easy and safe handling on site. Double bo-unded enclosure is for “spill free” operations. Reductions of noise up to 59 dBfor variety of pump units. Our self-priming pumps are produced by Gorman-Rupp, IPT, and AMT. We use motors from WEG, Tamel, Celma and combustionengines from John Deere, Caterpillar, JCB, Yanmar, Deutz, Honda, Perkinsand ListerPetter.

We offer wellpoint installation produced by Klaudia company, called IgE-81made for dewatering excavations in water-bearing grounds. It can be used asan independent installation or as a supplement for other types of dewateringin single- or two-level setups. One level of wellpoints in common operating con-ditions enables to lower the level of groundwater to approximately 4 m, whereastwo levels make it possible to achieve groundwater depression up to 7 m. Fle-xible wellpoints cooperating with the IgE-81 installation are meant for workswithout filter backfill. Guidelines:* Pump should be places on a flat and stable surface.* Check the alignment of the pump with the motor/engine.* The pump should be placed as close as possible to the pumped liquid.* The suction pipeline should not be lead upwards from the pump.* Check the sealing of all connections and fittings, paying special attention to
the suction side* The lesser the suction height is, the greater capacity of the pump can be
achieved.* The pump should not be used longer than a few minutes at closed valve on
the pressure side.* The working conditions should be regularly checked on the adequate gauges
on suction so as discharge side of the pump.* In the case of operation outside of performance range pump will work in ca-
vitation and will get damaged. Consult us for details. * The pumps, fittings, hoses, pipes and accessories should never be used for
pressures greater than the nominal pressure values of a given device.* Oil levels in the mechanic seal chamber, and the bearing chamber should be
monitored at least once a day.* Do not pump flammable liquids, unless the pump is dedicated to this pur-
pose.* Check the correctness of the pump’s circuit direction.* Make sure that the suction pipeline is sufficiently submerged, and there is no
vortexing.* If the pump is working at great delivery heads, discharge check valve has to
be used. * In the case of self-priming pumps you should fill the body of the pump casing
with liquid before starting the pump, vacuum-assisted pumps do not requireformer filling.
* n the case of pumps with combustion engines, the engine should be turnedon once a week for at least 5 minutes to be properly maintained during standby.

* All kind of valves has to be operated with gradual and slow movement toavoid water hammer.
* Monitor oil in the pumps and the engines at least once a day. In combustionengines oil and filters should be changed every 400 hours of operation. Whenchanging the oil in combustion engines there is also a need to change theoil, fuel and air filters. TPS company, at Client’s request, provides full main-tenance and repair procedures on site around all EU countries.
* In case of freezing temperatures during standby it is forbidden to leave fluidsin pumps and pipelines. This may lead to damages to the equipment. TPSoffer heating so as liquid circulation solutions for cold weather environments.
* Pumping high temperature liquids is allowed only via dedicated pump models.Standard pump can pump liquids of temperature not exceeding 70°C.
* Changing the pump’s operating parameters. This can be achieved in twoways:1) Partially closing the pressure side’s valve; this leads to generating an ad-
ditional hydraulic loss.2) Changing the speed of the pump’s shaft- switching the engine to higher or
lower speed (see page 105).* During manipulation of the pump speed it is necessary to keep the rotation
speed within the limits of the pump’s performance curve and available powerof the drive.
* Special attention should be paid to pipelines and fittings in order to adjustthem to the type of pumped liquid and the operating pressure of the completesystem.

Most commonly used forms of coupling drives together with pumps are elasticcouplings or v-belts and pulleys. Some of the pump units are equipped withgear reducers or hydrokinetic clutches. In order to ensure proper functioningof the pump unit assembly it is necessary to align pump and drive. As a resultof transportation, long operation, excessive vibrations, the assembly may loseits alignment. It is always necessary to check this before putting the unit towork. The use of manometer and vacuum meter enables to track the operating pa-rameters of the pump set. In case of using self-priming pumps or vacuum-as-sisted pumps there is no need to use suction check valves at the ends of suctionpipelines. Both types of pumps start the suction process without the need to fillthe suction pipeline with fluid. Pipelines should be supported independentlyfrom their fastening with the pump. The end of the suction pipeline should besituated on a proper depth in order to avoid vortexing. Suction pipeline shouldnot lie on the bottom of the tank. At the discharge side of the pump there is aneed to use a non-return valve to secure from returning of the pumped liquid.The gate or ball valve can prove helpful during operation of the liquid transfersystem i.e. to reduce the flow or in the case of pump working in discharge ca-vitation to force additional hydraulic loss. In stationary installations it is advisedto use elastic compensators on both sides of the pump to reduce vibrationspread to pipework. A useful element is also an air release valve on the dis-charge side of the pump to avoid forcing air to the discharge pipeline. It is ad-vised to avoid leading the suction pipeline horizontally. It is recommended touse suction pipelines with diameters larger than the diameter of the suctionflange on the pump.

Hydraulic losses:Linear- liquid passing through the pipeline by touching its internal surface en-counters friction resistance. The value of the resistance depends on the flowspeed of the liquid and the roughness of the internal surface of the pipeline.The greater the speed is, the bigger are the losses. The greater the roughnessis, the bigger are the losses (roughness is dependent on the material whichthe pipeline is made of i.e. materials from plastics have low roughness whencompared to, for example, pipes made of cast iron).Local- in order to include the value of the local hydraulic loss resulting fromused fittings (i.e. valve, bend, reduction etc.) it is necessary to assume, for thesake of simplification, that the loss amounts to 20% of the linear hydraulic loss.

The knowledge about the pump’s performance curve is necessary for its properuse. Hydraulic performance of the pump is presented in the form of a chart withthe following parameters of the pump’s performance: delivery head- H, Capa-city- Q, total power requirement - N, efficiency- n, NPSHr. Pump characteristicsis determined empirically, and allows for creating a chart presenting the opera-ting range of a given pump model. Using the pump in duty point outside theoperating range may lead to cavitation.Hydraulic power required for the pump to deliver sufficient energy for the liquidto overcome the total dynamic delivery head.Total power required - including losses from the type of drive used.Pump performance is a percent of the energy transferred to the pump shaft inrelation to the energy transferred by the pump to the pumped liquid. Pump per-formance oscillates between 20% and 95%, and depends on the pump type,its shape, type of the imeller, free flow of spherical solids through the pump,and the location of the duty point on the pump’s performance curve.

The chart above presents 3 curves characterising the operation of the pumpfor different rotational speeds of the drive. Performance curves with differentrotational speeds of the engine are parallel. The greater the rotational speed is(for the same engine), the greater the delivery head and the capacity are. Inelectrical motors it is possible to change the rotations with the use of frequencyconverters installed on the control panel. Our combustion engines are alsoequipped with speed controls. Owing to the possibility of changing the rotationspeed it is possible to adjust the operating parameters, in a defined range, tothe current installation requirements, and by doing this to save precious energy.

Duty point of the system pump-pipeline is determined by the system curve of thepump performance characteristics with the pipeline’s characteristics. The systemcurve, in other words the pipeline characteristics, is the relationship of the hyd-raulic losses in the flow function. The greater the flow, the greater the hydrauliclosses are. Having a pipeline with a fixed diameter and roughness, and the ope-ration parameters of the pump, enables us to determine the factual duty point ofthe system (pipe + pipeline). It is crucial from the point of view of choosing anoptimal solution. Point A on the chart is determined for the pipeline that is on thesame level as the pump, meaning that the static delivery head equals 0. Point Bdetermines the point of the system operation for the pipeline that is higher thanthe level of the pumped liquid, meaning that the static delivery head is H>0. Forthe point C, the pipeline is situated at the same level as on the curve B, yet inthis case there is more liquid or the pressure pipeline has a smaller diameter -the flow speed is raising which results in greater hydraulic losses. Determiningthe system duty point is a crucial aspect of the pressure transfer of liquids withthe use of pumps and pipelines. NPSH- Net Positive Suction Head parameter, is a very important operation pa-rameter from the point of view of proper selecting, and therefore proper func-tioning of the pump and pipeline system. When selecting the system we payspecial attention to this matter. Omitting this aspect may lead to operation incavitation which has a negative influence on the lifetime of the pump as wellas other components of the system.

If the pumped liquid’s pressure falls below the evaporate pressure value in thesuction pipeline, the vacuum migrates with the flow. The vacuum areas disap-pear when they encounter higher pressure areas inside the pump. Strong dy-namic change of the pressure value makes the liquid strike, with high speed,the operating components of the pump. It is followed by a dynamic increase ofpressure, together with high pressure on small surfaces, exceeding the steel’sdurability parameters. As a result we get erosion of the pump’s operating ele-ments, and high-frequency vibrations. This situation is harmful for the engineand the pump’s rotary assembly. Cavitation manifests in loud running of thepump, and losses of the nominal operational parameters. In order to preventcavitation, the NPSHr (given in the technical specification) and NPSHa (resul-ting from calculations) parameters should be analysed. In addition, there is aneed not to exceed the maximum suction head, use only the suction pipelineswhose diameter is bigger than the diameter of the pump’s suction flange, keepthe suction line permeable, not to use unnecessary fittings, omit horizontal sec-tions of the suction pipeline. There is also a risk of pump’s operation in cavitationon the pressure side. Such situation may take place when the pump has toolow discharge head on the pressure side. You only need to reduce the flow byclosing partially valve on the pressure side to increase the hydraulic loss, andas a result to move the duty point of the pump to the performance range.

In all installation the NPSHa value has to be higher thanNPSHr in order to ensure proper functioning without the risk of cavitation.
