Naïade purification unit IntroductionThe Naïade water purification unit is intended to disinfect polluted raw drinking water. It removes no chemicals and heavy metals. Salt and brackish water and chemically polluted water are not suitable to purify in the Naïade.

In case of any doubt: Let the Nedap distributor, chemist or potablewater expert test the water.

Main components of the Naïade are a solar panel, filter bags, body, UV-unit and battery.

The Naïade works as follows: The filter bags remove organic particles greater than 10 μm. The UV lamp will inactivate all bacteria, protozoa and viruses. The solar panel provides electricity to let the UV lamp burn and to load the battery. In case there is no sufficient sunlight, the battery provides electricity. One should use separate reservoirs forthe treated and untreated water to avoid reinfection.

The Naïade should be placed on a stable, sufficiently strong base. This keeps the direct surroundings of the unit clean and increases the hygienic standard. A regular cleaning of the outside of the unit will also reinforce hygiene standards.

Warning:UV light damages the eyes. Never operate UV lamp outside the reactor.

Removal or disconnection of the battery may result in system memory loss and could create faulty error indications. Anytime the Naïade is started up after commissioning, servicing or idle time, the battery should be fully charged and comply to the following specifications:12 Volts and minimum 36 Amp/Hr, preferably 72 Amp/Hr.

Warning:In any case battery box should be closed before operation.

5 MaintenanceThe Naïade water purifier needs a complete system check at least every month.The follow actions are necessary. • Inspection of the general appearance. • Verificate that the glass tube in the reactor is clean. For disassemble see 7. • Inspection of the inside vessel. Clean if it is dirty. • Status of the system: see 6. Leds below.

Check the battery. If necessary refill cells according the specifications of the battery.Check filter bags for damaging and ware off. Replace if necessary.

Note:Local circumstances determine how the Naïade must be maintained, sometimes inaberration to this manual. Ask your local Naïade representative.

Warning: Do not use hazardous chemicals for cleaning.
