Annual Report 2016 – 2017

growth
I am delighted to present the 2016-2017 WCCS Annual Report. WCCS has enjoyed an incredible year. Thanks to community support we have accomplished much and will accomplish more as we continue to grow.
In 2016 we celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a Grand Gala. Honorary Gala Chair, Warren County Commissioner Pat South (retired) helped us celebrate our history including her many contributions to our Agency.
I’m leading the largest concentrated growth of WCCS ever. Projects are underway responding to our increasing population and it’s needs. These include: development of the new Senior Center at Hopkins Commons in the Village of Maineville, development of the new Meals on Wheels™ commissary in Middletown (Franklin Township), and plans to add an additional Head Start facility in Carlisle. These projects could only be accomplished with collaboration of supportive elected officials, the Warren County Economic Development Board and partnerships within our amazing business community. Together we have, and will continue to do, great things. Here are further details:
• We will open an additional senior center in 2018 at Hopkins Commons. The Center will anchor the independent senior living apartments there and provide a banquet center/upscale restaurant. This intergenerational community will be the first in Ohio. WCCS will profit share with our Restaurant/Banquet Center Operator using our income from those ventures to pay operating costs for the senior center.
• Our Meals on Wheels™ program continues growing. Delivered meals increased 33% year-over-year with nearly 400,000 meals delivered in 2016. Our clients adore our outstanding food quality and freshly prepared meals. Our footprint has grown to include part of Butler County. We have purchased a 14,000-square foot facility in Middletown, gutted it and designed and built an amazing commissary. This provides for our continued Meals on Wheels™ growth well into the future. The facility has a large kitchen, meal sorting area and inside loading of delivery vans. The ergonomics and efficiencies resulting allows us to continue delivering the best quality, lowest cost meals to our growing senior population.
• WCCS was awarded a Head Start “Duration Grant” allowing us to purchase a needed additional Head Start location in Carlisle, OH. The facility is in an area demonstrating the highest need for Head Start. We will be serving many more youngsters and their families in northwestern Warren County.
• The recent reorganization of our Fiscal Department streamlined our back-office operations resulting in less bureaucracy and greater economies. The net result is reduction of administrative costs, helping our funds go further to the programs we provide. WCCS leads with its low administrative cost ratio to services provided.
• Our Board of Trustees have accomplished a reorganization of our governance and committees. Trustees are active overseers, are well informed and deeply connected. These great community leaders deserve much respect and appreciation for their involvement in WCCS.
Going forward, WCCS will proactively keep up with the needs of preschoolers, families and seniors. We are in an environment of growing community needs and shrinkage of traditional funding. As funding sources dwindle, we must rely more upon contributions from generous donors. Our programs require community financial and in-kind support. I appeal to past and future donors to give generously. Consider remembering WCCS in your estate planning. As a 501(c) (3) non-profit, your contributions are tax deductible.
Thank you for your support of WCCS. I’m counting on everyone to continue being generous with their time and money in 2017 and beyond. The goodness we provide along with our growth plans invigorate me. I am so happy to continue leading WCCS in its noble mission. “Watch us grow!”

of our
Farmer’s Markets were held at Station Hill and Bentley Woods Senior Housing. Residents received bags of produce purchased using grant funds from the Ohio Business & Professional Women’s Retirement Foundation.
WCCS was successful in securing the Meals on Wheels contract for all of Warren County and the Middletown region
of eastern Butler County.
Ground was broken November 2016 for new senior apartments in Hamilton Township to be called Hopkins Commons. WCCS will operate a senior center in this community funded by an adjoining restaurant and banquet center.
I appreciated the Farmers Market. We are short on cash at certain times of the month and these fresh vegetables and fruits really help out.
I would be lost without the 741 Center. I meet my friends there a few times a week. My life is enriched by the Center and I learn so much. I am thankful for the Center.
Highlights SuccessThe Grainger Foundation,
an independent, private foundation based in Lake
Forest, Illinois, donated $20,000 to WCCS to support
the 741 Center. To express our gratitude, the 741 Center
multi-purpose room has been named The Grainger
Foundation Room.
