Thanks to you, the City of Wanneroo is recovering more waste as a resource. In 2018/19, we diverted more than 53% of household waste from landfill!

Did you know?

Earlier this year, over 21 tonnes of waste was diverted from landfill thanks to the City’s annual community waste drop-off event. This included more than 1,000 tyres.

4 To avoid spills, soak up used cooking oil in paper before disposal.

4 Reduce your use of plastic by wrapping waste in newspaper, or purchase compostable bin liners which are made from plants. Look for the compostable logo.

Did you know?

Small garden prunings, lawn clippings and weeds can be put in your general waste bin year round to be turned into soil enhancer.

Important information

Keep footpaths, laneways and driveways clear. If your property is situated in a laneway, please place bulk waste in one of the visitor car bays at the front of your home. If you are unsure of where to place your waste for collection, contact the City on 9405 5000.

Please place waste at least 1 metre away from fences, walls, trees, mail boxes, public utilities, power domes, water meters and sprinklers to avoid damage.

Do not place items on light coloured paving and artificial turf. To avoid vehicles leaving marks or causing damage, we cannot collect material placed on these surfaces.

Waste should be placed on the verge no earlier than one week before scheduled collection.

Please check your collection dates. Crews will not return if you miss your collection.

Do not put waste out on vacant lots or park lands. This is illegal dumping and fines apply.

Bulk green waste (Loose tree and shrub prunings)

All green waste collected through verge green collections is recycled.

HHW includes unwanted household products that contain chemicals or substances that can be harmful.

Only domestic quantities (no more than 20 kg/L) of HHW will be accepted for free at a HHW disposal site.

Free asbestos drop-off (Sundays only)

Tamala Park offers residents FREE asbestos disposal every Sunday. Asbestos must be completely wrapped in heavy duty plastic, sealed with tape, and clearly labelled ASBESTOS. Some terms and conditions apply. Visit mrc.wa.gov.au for more information.

Old medicinesIf you have left over medicines in your home, talk to your pharmacist about the right way to get rid of them. Many pharmacies collect old medicines for disposal through the Return Unwanted Medicines (RUM) Project.

Needles Needles can cause harm to workers and the environment. Dispose needles responsibly by placing them in a sealed yellow sharps container. Contact your local pharmacy for more information.

TVs, computers, mobiles and other e-wasteTo help reduce precious resources going to landfill, you can drop-off e-waste items for free to Tamala Park and Balcatta Recycling Centre.

Books, clothing, furniture, shoes, toys, Bric-A-Brac

Please do not throw out useful household items in good working order. You can drop these items off for free at Tamala Park’s Recycling Centre or at one of our local charity stores.

Plastic bags and other soft plastic packaging

Collect and take your soft plastics (such as plastic bags, bubble wrap and plastic pasta packets) back to your nearest REDcycle supermarket collection bin. Visit redcycle.net.au for more information.

Did you know?

Leaving dog poo behind is littering. Owners are responsible for bringing their own bags and cleaning up after their pet. The City has installed dispensers in active parks and at dog beaches if you forget to bring a bag.With almost 1,000 bins in parks across the City, it’s easy to bag it and bin it.

Did you know?

A fleet of more than 40 vehicles are used to collect waste from around the City of Wanneroo.

Side loading recycling trucks and domestic waste trucks collect your household bins.Rear loading trucks collect your bulk verge collections. The City also empties more than 1,000 bins at bus stops, parks and community facilities.
