Being our 25th year in bathroom distribution and the beginning of summer, there was no doubt in our minds that we were going to celebrate this fantastic milestone in style! We held an Open Day and Trade Fair on Friday 12th June at our premises in Marden, inviting customers and manufacturers to join in our special circus themed event. Amongst the manufacturers informative and attractive displays, customers were treated to entertainment and refreshments such as, music from a jazz band, Pimms on the lawn and fish & chips and Crpes. Tours were also conducted, enabling customers to see for themselves how their orders are taken, processed, picked and distributed to them from our 145,000 square foot premises. The event gave manufacturers, customers and us a chance to catch up and discuss new and upcoming products and services in the near future. The event continued into the evening with the entertainment of a DJ, fairground sideshows dodgems, clowns and acrobats. Refreshments included a hog roast and stir-fry as well as popcorn and sweets. A great night was had by all, revelling in the 25th anniversary festivities.

Industry magazine Bathroom and Kitchen Update (BKU) held their first ever Awards on 25th June 2015 in the star studded surroundings of Londons No.1 party venue, Madame Tussauds. Over 200 members of the industry turned out to celebrate success and network with fellow trade colleagues. Claygates presence was immediately noticed as we had sponsored the pre dinner Champagne Reception. To arrive there, guests had to travel via The Spirit of London ride, which everyone loved! Seated in iconic black cabs they were taken on a nostalgic tour of Londons lively past before being dropped

back in the present. They were also treated to a picture with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who were waiting at Claygates sponsored photo booth along with many other famous faces placed around the venue! Once seated in the World Stage Room, guests were quick to make use of their free Selfie Sticks fresh from the news that a Selfie of the Night competition was taking place on twitter @BKUmagazine. The winner was sent a bottle of champagne from BKU magazine and an Aromatherapy luxury pamper pack. Capital Radios no.1 drivetime host Greg Burns kept the audience entertained with his wit throughout the night! A few awards were presented before the sumptuous three course dinner with the rest of the awards following after. The events charity was for Anthony Nolan Blood Cancer, for which funds were raised during the evening. Having narrowly missed out on the Best Distributor Award by being placed Highly Commended, Claygate were also extremely proud to have our very own Kristina Manktelow win the award for best Customer Services individual. All in all, a fabulous night was had by everyone who attended, most agreeing that it made for a very successful event and hopefully the first of many BKU Awards to follow.

Marketing Coordinator, Penny Shorricks departed on 10th June after working at Claygate for over four years. With her product knowledge and love of PR and writing, Penny ensured that Claygates voice was heard within the bathroom industry. Penny has taken her experience to the North Kent coast and is now working in PR within the entertainments industry.

Assistant to the Directors PA, Bryony Clayson left on 12th May to pursue a career within the property industry in London. Although she was only with us for a year and a half, Bryony was a fantastic help to Gemma, Mel and Andrew and gained valuable admin and HR experience to pass onto her next role.

Sales Admin Assistant, Cera Thorpe departed at the end of April after many years at Claygate. She has worked within both the Sales and Customer Services departments but has decided to be a stay at home mum, taking care of her children, Oscar and Ava.

We also have said farewell to a few people who have moved onto pastures new in the last few weeks.

Later on in the same week, Purchasing Coordinator, Shaun Gower also said goodbye, leaving rural life for the city too. Shaun was another long-standing member of Claygate, entering the Sales department since school. Gathering extensive knowledge of product and operation, Shaun has been a vital part of the Sales and Purchasing teams for many years.

Area Sales Manager, Debbie Bowen left in early May after serving the region of South Wales, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, (M4 corridor). Although Debbie was with us for a short time, she developed the new area considerably and ensured that new customers were informed about new products, news and updates regularly.

We wish them all success in their new roles and all the best for the future!

We are pleased to finally announce the launch of our Claygate app for iPhone and iPad. Available to download from the App Store, the app is the perfect tool to use when out and about. With a simplistic function, yet stylish theme, the app is easy and straightforward to use. On the homepage, there are options to view catalogues, showrooms or find out information about us, as well as the selection to view our social media pages at the top. In the Catalogue section, the latest issues of our Price Book and Commercial and Buildings Solutions are available to view. By selecting the Showrooms section and typing in your chosen postcode, it generates a list of the nearest stores and showrooms to that postcode. With this handy tool included, customers wont miss out on a particular showroom and what it has to offer. The showrooms that are on the store locator provide three or more displays, so there will be plenty of choice. Our aim is to introduce the app to Android in the coming months after a probationary period. We realise that we have a lot of customers that use Android devices, as well as IOS. As plans unfold for this, we will keep you updated on these developments.
