Spring Validations

HEIFERS

I am sure everyone is aware of the requirements set forth by the Major Shows that all heifers exhibited at both

Spring and Fall Majors must be validated in the Texas Heifer Validation system. There will be a Spring Heifer

Validation process for those heifers who have yet to be validated. Please remember that a heifer only has to be

validated once in her show career. The only exception to this is if there is a change in ownership, or the

exhibitor wishes to register the heifer under a different breed.

Exactly like in the fall, there will be two stages to the validation process, the first is the uploading of a digital

copy of the ORIGINAL REGISTRATION PAPERS into the database. Please begin emailing digital colored scans of

the heifer’s original registration papers to Stephanie Rudolph ([email protected]) as soon as

possible. The ownership deadline on the registration papers must reflect a date before June 30th. The scanned

image of the registration paper MUST match the color of the original registration paper. No cell phone pictures

of the registration paper will be allowed. Please do not wait until the last minute to work with your breeder

and the breed association to receive the paperwork. We have to have the registration paperwork uploaded

into the database before June 30th, so the sooner we can get your paperwork, the smoother the process will

be.

The second stage of the Heifer Validation process is the physical validation. The physical validation is where we

will check to make sure that tattoos and brands match the registration paper, as well as pull hair for DNA. The

physical Validation will take place on June 25th in Barn 2 of the Fairgrounds. As always, if you have any

questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at the Extension Office.

STEERS

2015-2016 Major Steer Validation will take place in Barn 2 of the Fairgrounds on June 16-17 from 5:00-6:30 pm

STATE FAIR SHEEP & GOATS

Validation for sheep and goats going to the State Fair will be on June 15th at Barn 1 of the Fairgrounds. Sheep

and goats will be validated from 5:00-5:30pm.

STATE FAIR HOGS

Validation for barrows going to the State Fair will take place on June 15th at Barn 1 of the Fairgrounds from

5:30-6:30pm
