State Retrofit Programs
• Washington Clean School Bus Program: direct funds pass through to local air agencies
• Local Governments Diesel Retrofits Program: Ecology operated grants program to cities, counties, port authorities, and transit authorities

Roles and Responsibilities:
• State Procurement Office: contract management• Ecology: state fiscal and project management, diesel
technical support, grants management, use state funds to leverage federal funds
• Seven Local Air Agencies: local fiscal and project management, use state funds to leverage federal funds
• Puget Sound Clean Air Agency: “Diesel Emissions Solutions” Program: initiate and manage own contracts

Challenges / Successes
Diesel emissions reductions vs. vehicle retrofits
(retrofits, idle reduction, emissions testing, engine maintenance, alternative fuels, education outreach, etc.)
![Page 10: Washington Diesel Retrofit Programs](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062410/568159f3550346895dc73e32/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Challenges / Successes
Meeting Customers Expectations:
• Schedules
• Communication
