    March through August: This is the Museums busy season. To prevent crowding during these

    months, the Museum distributes free passes to thePermanent Exhibition. Timed passes are

    available at the Museum on the day of your visit oronline in advance. The earliest pass time is

    10 a.m. and the latest is 3:30 p.m. (4:30 p.m. during Extended Hours, weekdays from March 25

    Official Business - Visitors with official business appointments may enter the Visitor Center asearly as 7:15 a.m.

    Admission and Passes - Admission to the Capitol Visitor Center is free. However, passes arerequired for tours of the historic Capitol and may be needed for other special events. All visitors

    to the Capitol are required to go throughsecurity screening.

    The White House-

    White House Tours

    Public tour requests must be submitted through one's Member of Congress. These self-guided

    tours are available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00p.m. Fridays, and 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays (excluding federal holidays or unless

    otherwise noted). Tour hours will be extended when possible based on the official White House

    schedule. Tours are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Requests can be submitted up

    to six months in advance and no less than 21 days in advance. You are encouraged to submityour request as early as possible as a limited number of spaces are available. All White House

    tours are free of charge. (Please note that White House tours may be subject to last minutecancellation.)

    If you wish to visit the White House and are a citizen of a foreign country, please contact yourembassy in Washington, DC for assistance in submitting a tour request.

    All guests 18 years of age or older will be required to present a valid, government-issued photoidentification (detailed below). All foreign nationals must present their passport. All other forms

    of foreign identification will not be accepted.

    The U.S. Secret Service reserves the right to prohibit any other personal items. Umbrellas,wallets, car keys, and cell phones (including those with cameras) are permitted. However, guests

    will not be allowed to use cell phones inside the White House. Phones used inside the White

    House may be confiscated by US Secret Service.

    Please note that no storage facilities are available on or around the complex. Individuals who

    arrive with prohibited items will not be permitted to enter the White House.

    Parking

    The closest Metrorail stations to the White House are Federal Triangle (blue and orange lines),Metro Center (blue, orange, and red lines) and McPherson Square (blue and orange lines). On-

    street parking is not available near the White House, and use of public transportation is strongly

    encouraged.

    Operating Hours & Seasons

    The public may visit the Korean War Veterans Memorial 24 hours a day. However Rangers are

    on duty to answer questions from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 P.M. daily and to provide interpretive

    programs every hour on the hour from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

    Fees & Reservations

    The Korean War Veterans Memorial has no fees or reservations associated with a visit. Howeverfor planned events dependent upon the activity and number of participants a permit may berequired. See the permits section for more information.

    Vietnam Veterans Memorial

    Located north of the Lincoln Memorial near the intersection of 22nd St. and Constitution Ave.

    NW, Vietnam Veterans Memorial is free to visit and is open 24 hours a day.

    The memorial includes the names of over 58,000 servicemen and women who gave their lives in

    service in the Vietnam Conflict. The memorial also includes "The Three Servicemen" statue and

    the Vietnam Women's Memorial.

    BY AUTOMOBILE

    Gettysburg National Military Park is located in Adams County, Pennsylvania. The museum andvisitor center is located at 1195 Baltimore Pike (Route 97) with a back entrance from theTaneytown Road (State Rt. 134). From North or South, follow US 15 to Gettysburg and watchfor signs to direct you to the National Park Service Museum and Visitor Center. The signs arenear the exit at Rt. 97. Go north on Route 97 and look for the visitor center entrance, which willbe on your left at the stoplight. From East or West, drive into Gettysburg on US Rt. 30, turnSouth on Baltimore Street (Rt. 97), and follow signs to the entrance of the visitor center, whichwill be on your right at the stoplight.

    PARK GROUNDS AND ROADSThe park is open daily from 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. April 1 to October 31, and 6:00 A.M. to7:00 P.M. November 1 to March 31. Park hours are strictly enforced.

    Comfort Stations located throughout the park are open for visitors during regular park hours.These stations are closed for the winter from mid-November (after Remembrance Day events)through March.

    THE MUSEUM AND VISITOR CENTER

    The Museum and Visitor Center is open daily throughout the year. The center is closed onThanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.

    TICKETS ARE REQUIRED FOR TOURS OF INDEPENDENCE

    Walk-up tickets for individuals and small family groups (FREE)

    To obtain entrance into Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and U.S.Constitution were signed, you must have a tour ticket with a specific day and time.

    These tickets eliminate the long wait for Independence Hall tours and give you more time to seethe other historic sites in the area. You need a ticket from March 1 to December 31, exceptfor July 4th, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. Independence National Historical Park is closedon Christmas Day.

    Walk-Up Tickets are available for free on the morning of your visit at the IndependenceVisitor Center at 6th and Market Street starting at 8:30AM. The first tour starts at 9:00AM. You

    may request tickets for any available time, on the day of the visit. You have the greatest choiceof times if you arrive between 8:30AM and 10:30 AM. During the busy season, tickets are oftengone by 1:00PM.
