Heart Breaking Rhythms Directions - Sulphur Springs Music Class

1. First, either print the image that has four rows of four hearts on it, or you can draw your own hearts. If you have to draw your own, you might just use eight hearts total, instead of sixteen hearts. Each heart

represents one beat.

2. Then create your own rhythm pattern using quarter notes, eighth

notes, sixteenth notes or quarter rests. Make sure you center the eighth notes where there’s one eighth note on each half of the heart. In the same way, there should be just two sixteenth notes on each half of the heart. Then clap your pattern. Change it if you want - YOU are the composer! Here’s my creation - my composition.

3. Then cut out the hearts and rearrange the hearts. See if you can clap the new pattern. (Make other patterns if you want.)
