• Lowered the national unemployment rate from 12% to 3.3%

• Harding signed the first child welfare program in the United States and dealt with strikingworkers in the mining and railroad industries

• Wanted US participation in an International Court – not favorable

• Thomson-Urrutia Treaty (w/ Panama) – helped relations withMexico, Latin America, Caribbean Islands; gave $25 million as paymentfor land to make Panama Canal.
