Warranty Service– UnitedStates, Canada and Mexico
The selling dealer has invested inthe proper tools, training, and partsinventory to ensure that any
necessary warranty repairs can bemade to your GM vehicle. GMrequests that the vehicle bereturned to the selling dealer for allwarranty repairs. If a situation orevent occurs where you aresignificantly inconvenienced, anauthorized GM dealer can make thewarranty repairs. However, in theevent the dealer is not able toperform the repair due to the specialtool and training requirements,contact the Customer AssistanceOffices 0 33. If you are unable toreturn to the selling dealer, contact aGM dealer in the United States,Canada, or Mexico for warrantyservice.

GM will provide for repairs to thevehicle during the warranty period inaccordance with the following terms,conditions, and limitations.
What Is Covered
Warranty Applies
This warranty is for GM vehiclesregistered in the United States andnormally operated in the UnitedStates or Canada, and is providedto the original and any subsequentowners of the vehicle during thewarranty period.
Repairs Covered
The warranty covers repairs tocorrect any vehicle defect, not slightnoise, vibrations, or other normalcharacteristics of the vehicle due tomaterials or workmanship occurringduring the warranty period. Neededrepairs will be performed using new,remanufactured, or refurbishedparts.
No Charge
Warranty repairs, including towing,parts, and labor, will be made at nocharge.
Obtaining Repairs
To obtain warranty repairs, take thevehicle to a Cadillac dealer facilitywithin the warranty period andrequest the needed repairs.Reasonable time must be allowedfor the dealer to perform necessaryrepairs.
Warranty Period
The warranty period for allcoverages begins on the date thevehicle is first delivered or put inuse and ends at the expiration ofthe coverage period.
Bumper-to-Bumper Coverage
The complete vehicle is covered for4 years or 50,000 miles, whichevercomes first, except for othercoverages listed here under “WhatIs Covered” and those items listedunder “What Is Not Covered” later inthis section.
Powertrain Coverage
The powertrain is covered for6 years or 70,000 miles, whichevercomes first, except for othercoverages listed here under “What
Is Covered” and those items listedunder “What Is Not Covered” later inthis section.
Engine Coverage includes: Allinternally lubricated parts, engine oilcooling hoses and lines. Alsoincluded are all actuators andelectrical components internal to theengine (e.g., Active FuelManagement Valve Lifter OilManifold) cylinder head, block,timing gears, timing chain, timingcover, oil pump/oil pump housing,OHC carriers, valve covers, oil pan,seals, gaskets, manifolds, flywheel,water pump, harmonic balancer,engine mount, turbocharger, andsupercharger. Timing belts, andother associated componentsrequired in the timing belt servicereplacement procedure are covereduntil the first scheduledmaintenance interval.
Exclusions: Excluded from thepowertrain coverage are sensors,wiring, connectors, engine radiator,coolant hoses, coolant, and heatercore. Coverage on the enginecooling system begins at the inlet tothe water pump and ends with the

thermostat housing and/or outletthat attaches to the return hose.Also excluded is the starter motor,entire pressurized fuel system(in-tank fuel pump, pressure lines,fuel rail(s), regulator, injectors, andreturn line) as well as the Engine/Powertrain Control Module and/ormodule programming.
Transmission/Transaxle Coverageincludes: All internally lubricatedparts, case, torque converter,mounts, seals, and gaskets as wellas any electrical componentsinternal to the transmission/transaxle. Also covered are anyactuators directly connected to thetransmission (slave cylinder, etc.).
Exclusions: Excluded from thepowertrain coverage aretransmission cooling lines, hoses,radiator, sensors, wiring, andelectrical connectors. Also excludedare the clutch and pressure plate aswell as any Transmission ControlModule and/or moduleprogramming.
Transfer Case Coverage includes:All internally lubricated parts, case,mounts, seals, and gaskets as wellas any electrical componentsinternal to the transfer case. Alsocovered are any actuators directlyconnected to the transfer case aswell as encoder motor.
Exclusions: Excluded from thepowertrain coverage are transfercase cooling lines, hoses, radiator,sensors, wiring, and electricalconnectors as well as the transfercase control module and/or moduleprogramming.
Drive Systems Coverageincludes: All internally lubricatedparts, final drive housings, axleshafts and bearings, constantvelocity joints, propeller shafts, anduniversal joints. All mounts,supports, seals, and gaskets as wellas any electrical componentsinternal to the drive axle. Alsocovered are any actuators directlyconnected to the drive axle (e.g.,front differential actuator).
Exclusions: Excluded from thepowertrain coverage are all wheelbearings, drive wheel front and rearhub bearings, locking hubs, drivesystem cooling, lines, hoses,radiator, sensors, wiring, andelectrical connectors related to drivesystems as well as any drive systemcontrol module and/or moduleprogramming.
Tire Coverage
The tires supplied with your vehicleare covered by General Motorsagainst defects in material orworkmanship under thebumper-to-bumper warrantycoverage. Wear-out is notconsidered a defect, and it mayoccur before the vehicle warrantyexpires. In this case, the owner isresponsible to purchasereplacement tires, or seek coveragesolely from the tire manufacturer.For vehicles within thebumper-to-bumper warrantycoverage, defective tires will bereplaced on a prorated adjustmentbasis according to the followingmileage-based schedule:

This schedule applies to the price ofthe tires only. GM will cover 100% ofthe cost to mount and balance thetires replaced under warranty for thefull bumper-to-bumper warrantyperiod.
After your New Vehicle LimitedWarranty expires, you may still haveprorated warranty coverage on youroriginal equipment tires by the tiremanufacturer. Contact your GMdealer or the tire manufacturer ofthe brand of tires on your vehicle formore information. When a tire is removed from servicedue to a covered warranty conditionunder a tire manufacturer's limitedwarranty program, you may beeligible for a tire replacement or acomparable new tire on a proratedbasis.
The tire manufacturer's limitedwarranty program, which can beobtained by calling or visiting thetire manufacturer's website or anyauthorized dealer, is in lieu of allother remedies or warranties,
expressed or implied, arising by lawor otherwise, including fitness for aparticular purpose ormerchantability. The tiremanufacturers expressly disclaimliability for indirect, special,incidental, or consequentialdamages, lost profit, loss ofbusiness, loss of goodwill, loss ofreputation, punitive or any otherdamage, cost, or loss of any kind.*
*Some states do not allow theexclusion or limitation of incidentalor consequential damages, so theabove limitations or exclusion maynot apply to you.
Accessory Coverages
Most GM parts and accessoriessold and permanently installed on aGM vehicle by a GM Dealer or GMapproved Accessory Distributor/Installer (ADI) prior to delivery willbe covered under the applicableportion (Bumper-to-Bumper,

Powertrain, etc.) of the New VehicleLimited Warranty. In the event GMaccessories are installed aftervehicle delivery, or are replacedunder the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty, they will be covered, partsand labor, for the balance of theapplicable portion of the NewVehicle Limited Warranty, but in noevent less than 12 months/unlimitedmiles.
GM accessories sold over thecounter, or those not requiringinstallation, will continue to receivethe standard GM Dealer PartsWarranty of 12 months from the dateof purchase, parts only.
GM Licensed and IntegratedBusiness Partner (IBP) Accessoriesare covered under theaccessory-specific manufacturer'swarranty and are not warranted byGM or its dealers.
Caution
This warranty excludes:
Any communications device thatbecomes unusable or unable tofunction as intended due tounavailability of compatiblewireless service or GPS satellitesignals.
Sheet Metal Coverage
Sheet metal panels are coveredagainst corrosion and rust-throughas follows:
Corrosion: Body sheet metalpanels are covered against rust for4 years or 50,000 miles, whichevercomes first.
Rust-Through: Any body sheetmetal panel that rusts through, anactual hole in the sheet metal, iscovered for up to 6 years, unlimitedmileage.
Important: Cosmetic or surfacecorrosion, resulting from stone chipsor scratches in the paint, forexample, is not included in sheetmetal coverage.
Towing
Towing is covered to the nearestCadillac dealer if your vehiclecannot be driven because of awarranted defect.
What Is Not Covered
Tire and Wheel Damage or Wear
Normal tire wear or wear-out is notcovered. Tire wear is influenced bymany variables such as roadconditions, driving styles, vehicleweight, and tire construction.Uniform tire wear is a normalcondition, and is not considered adefect. Road hazard damage suchas punctures, cuts, snags, andbreaks resulting from potholeimpact, curb impact, or from otherobjects is not covered. Tire weardue to misalignment beyond thewarranty period is not covered.Also, damage from improperinflation, overloading, spinning, as

when stuck in mud or snow, tirechains, racing, improper mountingor dismounting, misuse, negligence,alteration, improper repair, accident,collision, fire, vandalism,or misapplication is not covered.Damage to wheels or tire sidewallscaused by automatic car washes orcleaning agents is not covered.
Damage Due to Accident, Misuse,or Alteration
The New Vehicle Limited Warrantydoes not cover damage caused asthe result of any of the following:
. Collision, fire, theft, freezing,vandalism, riot, explosion,or objects striking the vehicle
. Misuse of the vehicle such asdriving over curbs, overloading,racing, or other competition.Proper vehicle use is discussedin the owner manual.
. Alteration, modification,or tampering to the vehicle,including, but not limited to thebody, chassis, powertrain,
driveline, software, or othercomponents after final assemblyby GM.
. Coverages do not apply if theodometer has beendisconnected, its reading hasbeen altered, or mileage cannotbe determined.
. Installation of non-GM (GeneralMotors) parts
. Water or fluid contamination
. Damage resulting from hail,floods, windstorms, lightning,and other environmentalconditions
. Alteration of glass parts byapplication of tinting films
Important: This warranty is void onvehicles currently or previously titledas salvaged, scrapped, junked,or otherwise considered a total loss.
Damage or Corrosion Due toEnvironment, ChemicalTreatments, or AftermarketProducts
Damage caused by airborne fallout,rail dust, salt from sea air, salt orother materials used to control roadconditions, chemicals, tree sap,stones, hail, earthquake, water orflood, windstorm, lightning, theapplication of chemicals or sealantssubsequent to manufacture, etc., isnot covered. See “Chemical PaintSpotting” under Things to KnowAbout the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty 0 13.
Damage Due to Insufficient orImproper Maintenance
Damage caused by failure to followthe recommended maintenanceschedule intervals and/or failure touse or maintain proper fluids,or maintain fluids betweenrecommended maintenanceintervals, fuel, lubricants,or refrigerants recommended in theowner manual is not covered.

Damage Due to Contaminated,Improper, or Poor Quality Fuel
Poor fuel quality or incorrect fuelmay cause driveability problemssuch as hesitation, lack of power,stalling, or failure to start. They mayalso degrade functionality of criticalexhaust emissions componentssuch as spark plugs, oxygensensors, and the catalytic converter.Damage from poor fuel quality,water contamination, or if thevehicle requires premium fuel,operating the vehicle on gasolinewith a Pump Octane less than a 91(R+M)/2, may not be covered.
Prohibited fuels are: Gasolinescontaining any methanol, MMT, anorganometallic octane enhancingadditive, and/or fuels containingmore than 15% ethanol in non-FlexFuel Vehicles (FFV).
Please refer to your owner manualunder “Fuel,” for additionalrecommendations, including the useof TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline.Additional information can also befound at: www.toptiergas.com/index.html.
Damage Due to Impact, Use,or the Environment
Windshield or glass cracks, chips,or scratches due to impact are notcovered. Windshield cracks will becovered for the first 12 months,regardless of mileage if caused bydefects in material or workmanship.
Lights, lenses, mirrors, paint, grille,moldings, and trim are not coveredfor cracks, chips, scratches, dents,dings, and punctures or tears as aresult of impact with other objects orroad hazards. In addition, cracks,chips, scratches, or other damageto the face of a radio or instrumentcluster from impact or foreignobjects are not covered.
Third Party Externally ConnectedElectrical Products
This warranty does not apply tohardware or software of a third partydevice that is connected to thevehicle or its components, even ifintegrated or delivered with thevehicle. GM is not responsible forthe quality or accuracy of anyinformation, or service accessedthrough or from any third party
device or platform. Softwaredistributed by GM inside or outsidethe vehicle (including, but not limitedto system software or applications)is not covered by this Warranty. GMdoes not warrant that connectionsto, from or through the vehicle willbe uninterrupted or error-free. Also,the user should back-up their dataand information frequently. GM isnot responsible for any loss ordamage to data or information madeavailable in connection with the useof the vehicle. In addition, thisWarranty does not apply: (a) toconsumable parts that are designedto diminish over time, unless failurehas occurred due to a defect inmaterials or workmanship; (b) todamage caused by use with anotherproduct or service; (c) to damagecaused by a third party device orservice (including upgrades andexpansions), or (d) to obsolescenceor lack of utility due toincompatibility with future versionsof external hardware or software,including, but not limited to mobiledevices.

Maintenance
All vehicles require periodicmaintenance. Maintenanceservices, such as those detailed inthe owner manual are the owner'sexpense. Vehicle lubrication,cleaning, or polishing are notcovered. Failure of or damage tocomponents requiring replacementor repair due to vehicle use, wear,exposure, or lack of maintenance isnot covered.
Items such as:
. Audio System Cleaning
. Brake Pads/Linings
. Clutch Linings
. Coolants and Fluids
. Filters
. Keyless Entry (or other remotetransmitter/receiver batteries)*
. Limited Slip Rear Axle Service
. Tire Rotation
. Wheel Alignment/Balance**
. Wiper Inserts
are covered up to the firstmaintenance inspection periodoutlined in the owner manual. Anyreplacement at the time of,or beyond the maintenanceinspection period is consideredmaintenance, and is not covered aspart of the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty. The New Vehicle LimitedWarranty only covers componentswhen replacement or repair of thesecomponents is the result of a defectin material or workmanship.
* Consumable battery covered up to12 months only.
** Maintenance items after7,500 miles.

Economic loss or extra expense isnot covered.

ELR-Specific Warranty
For vehicles sold in the UnitedStates, in addition to theBumper-to-Bumper Coveragedescribed previously, GeneralMotors will warrant certain ExtendedRange Electric Vehicle (EREV)components for each Cadillac ELR,(hereafter referred to as EREV) for8 years or 100,000 miles(160 000 kilometers), whichevercomes first, from the originalin-service date of the vehicle,against warrantable repairs to thespecific EREV components of thevehicle.
For vehicles sold in Canada, inaddition to the Base WarrantyCoverage described in the GM
Canadian Cadillac ELR LimitedWarranty, Maintenance and OwnerAssistance booklet, General Motorsof Canada Limited will warrantcertain EREV components forCadillac ELR (hereafter referred toas EREV) for 8 years or100,000 miles (160,000 kilometers),whichever comes first, from theoriginal in-service date of thevehicle, against warrantable repairsto the specific EREV components ofthe vehicle.
This warranty is for Cadillac ELRvehicles registered and normallyoperated in the United States orCanada, respectively. In addition tothe initial owner of the vehicle, thecoverage described in this EREVwarranty is transferable at no cost toany subsequent person(s) whoassumes ownership of the vehiclewithin the above-described 8 yearsor 100,000 miles(160 000 kilometers) term. Nodeductibles are associated with thisEREV warranty.
This EREV component warranty isin addition to the express conditionsand warranties described previously.

What Is Covered

Towing
During the 8 year or 100,000 miles(160 000 kilometers) EREV warrantyperiod, towing is covered to thenearest Cadillac servicing dealer ifyour vehicle cannot be drivenbecause of a warranted EREVspecific defect. Cadillac ELR Coverage
Propulsion Battery WarrantyPolicy
Like all batteries, the amount ofenergy that the high-voltage“propulsion” battery can store willdecrease with time and milesdriven. Gradual loss of batterycapacity is NOT covered under theNew Vehicle Limited Warranty.Depending on use, the high-voltagebattery may experience as much as40% capacity reduction over thewarranty period. See your ownermanual for important tips on how tomaximize the life and capacity of thehigh-voltage battery. To avoid losingwarranty coverage for the battery,follow the guidelines for properbattery maintenance when thevehicle is not driven, or when thevehicle is stored for an extendedperiod of time.
Repair
If possible, components will berepaired or replaced, and theoriginal battery will be returned tothe vehicle.
Replace (If Necessary)
Under warranty, the high voltagebattery will be replaced with either anew or factory reconditioned highvoltage battery with an energycapacity (kWh storage) level at orabove that of the original batteryprior to the failure.
Your ELR battery warrantyreplacement may not return yourvehicle as an “as new” condition,but it will make your ELR fullyoperational appropriate to its ageand mileage.

Warranty Repairs –Component Exchanges
In the interest of customersatisfaction, GM may offerexchange service on some vehiclecomponents. This service isintended to reduce the amount oftime your vehicle is not available foruse due to repairs. Componentsused in exchange are servicereplacement parts that may be new,remanufactured, or refurbished.
Remanufactured parts meet GMapproved service part requirementsand are made from previously usedcomponents in a process thatinvolves disassembly, inspection,cleaning, update of software andreplacement of parts as appropriate,testing and reassembly.
Refurbished parts meet GMapproved service part requirementsand are previously used parts thatare inspected, cleaned, tested, andrepackaged.
All exchange components usedmeet GM standards and arewarranted the same as newcomponents. Examples of the types
of components that might beserviced in this fashion include:engine and transmissionassemblies, instrument clusterassemblies, radios, compact discplayers, batteries, and powertraincontrol modules.
Warranty Repairs – RecycledMaterials
Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) guidelines and GM supportthe capture, purification, and reuseof automotive air conditioningrefrigerant gases and enginecoolant. As a result, any repairs GMmay make to your vehicle mayinvolve the installation of purifiedreclaimed refrigerant and coolant.
Tire Service
Any authorized Cadillac or tiredealer for your brand of tires canassist you with tire service. If, aftercontacting one of these dealers, youneed further assistance or you havequestions, contact the CadillacCustomer Assistance Center. The

Aftermarket EnginePerformance EnhancementProducts and Modifications
Some aftermarket engineperformance products andmodifications promise a way toincrease the horsepower and torquelevels of your vehicle’s powertrain.You should be aware that theseproducts may have detrimentaleffects on the performance and lifeof the engine, exhaust emissionsystem, transmission, anddrivetrain. Engine powerenhancement products may enablethe engine to operate at horsepowerand torque levels that coulddamage, create failure, or reducethe life of the engine, engineemission system, transmission, anddrivetrain. After-Manufacture“Rustproofing”Your vehicle was designed and builtto resist corrosion. Application ofadditional rust-inhibiting materials isneither necessary nor requiredunder the Sheet Metal Coverage.GM makes no recommendationsconcerning the usefulness or valueof such products.
Application of after-manufacturerustproofing products may create anenvironment which reduces thecorrosion resistance built into yourvehicle. Repairs to correct damagecaused by such applications are notcovered under your New VehicleLimited Warranty.
Paint, Trim, and AppearanceItems
Defects in paint, trim, upholstery,or other appearance items arenormally corrected during newvehicle preparation. If you find anypaint or appearance concerns,
advise your dealer as soon aspossible. Your owner manual hasinstructions regarding the care ofthese items.
Vehicle Operation and Care
Considering the investment youhave made in your Cadillac, weknow you will want to operate andmaintain it properly. We urge you tofollow the maintenance instructionsin your owner manual.

Maintenance and WarrantyService Records
Retain receipts coveringperformance of regularmaintenance. Receipts can be veryimportant if a question arises as towhether a malfunction is caused bylack of maintenance or a defect inmaterial or workmanship.

Chemical Paint Spotting
Some weather and atmosphericconditions can create a chemicalfallout. Airborne pollutants can fallupon and adhere to paintedsurfaces on your vehicle. Thisdamage can take two forms:blotchy, ring-shaped discolorations,and/or small irregular dark spotsetched into the paint surface.
Although no defect in the factoryapplied paint causes this, Cadillacwill repair, at no charge to theowner, the painted surfaces of newvehicles damaged by this falloutcondition within 12 months or12,000 miles of purchase, whichevercomes first.

Warranty Coverage –Extensions
Time Extensions : The NewVehicle Limited Warranty will beextended one day for each daybeyond the first 24 hour period inwhich your vehicle is at anauthorized dealer facility forwarranty service. You may be askedto show the repair orders to verifythe period of time the warranty is tobe extended. Your extension rightsmay vary depending on state law.
Mileage Extensions : Prior todelivery, some mileage is put onyour vehicle during testing at theassembly plant, during shipping,and while at the dealer facility. Thedealer records this mileage on thefirst page of this warranty booklet atdelivery. For eligible vehicles, thismileage will be added to themileage limits of the warrantyensuring that you receive full benefitof the coverage. Mileage extensioneligibility:
. Applies only to new vehiclesheld exclusively in new vehicleinventory.
. Does not apply to used vehicles,GM-owned vehicles, dealerowned used vehicles, or dealerdemonstrator vehicles.
. Does not apply to vehicles withmore than 1,000 miles on theodometer even though thevehicle may not have beenregistered for license plates.
Warranty Service — ForeignCountries
Touring Owner Service
If you are touring in a foreigncountry and repairs are needed,take your vehicle to the nearest GMdealer which sells and servicesCadillac vehicles. However, if aCadillac dealer cannot be located,significantly inconveniencedcustomers can take their vehicle toany GM dealer for repairs.
Important: Repairs madenecessary by the use of improper ordirty fuels and lubricants are notcovered under the warranty. Seeyour owner manual for additionalinformation on fuel requirementswhen operating in foreign countries.
Permanent Relocation
This warranty applies to GMvehicles registered in the UnitedStates and normally operated in theUnited States, Canada, or Mexico.If you have permanently relocatedand established householdresidency in another country, GMmay authorize the performance ofrepairs under the warrantyauthorized for vehicles generallysold by GM in that country. Contactan authorized GM dealer in yourcountry for assistance.
Important: GM warranty coveragesmay be void on GM vehicles thathave been imported/exported forresale.
Original Equipment Alterations
This warranty does not cover anydamage or failure resulting frommodification or alteration to thevehicle's original equipment asmanufactured or assembled byGeneral Motors. Examples of thetypes of alterations that would notbe covered include cutting, welding,

Additionally, General Motors doesnot warranty non-GM parts,calibrations, and/or softwaremodifications. The use of parts,control module calibrations,software modifications, and/or anyother alteration not issued throughGeneral Motors will void thewarranty coverage for thosecomponents that are damaged orotherwise affected by the installationof the non-GM part, control modulecalibration, software modification,and/or other alteration.
The only exception is that non-GMparts labeled “Certified to EPAStandards” are covered by theFederal Emissions PerformanceWarranty.
Recreation Vehicle and SpecialBody or Equipment Alterations
Installations or alterations to theoriginal equipment vehicle orchassis, as manufactured andassembled by GM, are not coveredby this warranty. The special body
company, assembler, or equipmentinstaller is solely responsible forwarranties on the body orequipment and any alterations toany of the parts, components,systems, or assemblies installed byGM. Examples include, but are notlimited to, special body installations,such as recreational vehicles, theinstallation of any non-GM part,cutting, welding, or thedisconnecting of original equipmentvehicle or chassis parts andcomponents, extension of thewheelbase, suspension anddriveline modifications, and axleadditions.
Pre-Delivery Service
Defects in the mechanical,electrical, sheet metal, paint, trim,and other components of yourvehicle may occur at the factory orwhile it is being transported to thedealer facility. Normally, any defectsoccurring during assembly areidentified and corrected at thefactory during the inspectionprocess. In addition, dealers inspecteach vehicle before delivery. They
repair any uncorrected factorydefects and any transit damagedetected before the vehicle isdelivered to you.
Any defects still present at the timethe vehicle is delivered to you arecovered by the warranty. If you findany defects, advise your dealerwithout delay. For further detailsconcerning any repairs which thedealer may have made prior to youtaking delivery of your vehicle, askyour dealer.
Production Changes
GM and GM dealers reserve theright to make changes in vehiclesbuilt and/or sold by them at any timewithout incurring any obligation tomake the same or similar changeson vehicles previously built and/orsold by them.

18 Emission Control Systems Warranty
The emission warranty on yourvehicle is issued in accordance withthe U.S. Federal Clean Air Act.Defects in material or workmanshipin GM emission parts may also becovered under the New VehicleLimited WarrantyBumper-to-Bumper coverage. Theremay be additional coverage on GMdiesel engine vehicles. In any case,the warranty with the broadestcoverage applies.

How to Determine theApplicable Emissions ControlSystem Warranty
State and Federal agencies mayrequire a different emission controlsystem warranty depending on:

. Whether the vehicle conforms toor is certified for Californiaregulations in addition to U.S.EPA Federal regulations.

Federal Emission PerformanceWarranty
Some states and/or localjurisdictions have establishedperiodic vehicle Inspection andMaintenance (I/M) programs toencourage proper maintenance ofyour vehicle. If an EPA-approved I/M program is enforced in your area,you may also be eligible forEmission Performance Warrantycoverage when all three of thefollowing conditions are met:
. The vehicle has beenmaintained and operated inaccordance with the instructionsfor proper maintenance and useset forth in the owner manualsupplied with your vehicle.
. The vehicle fails anEPA-approved I/M test duringthe emission warranty period.
. The failure results, or will result,in the owner of the vehiclehaving to bear a penalty or othersanctions, including the denial ofthe right to use the vehicle,under local, state, or federal law.

Your Rights and Obligations (ForVehicles Subject to CaliforniaExhaust Emission Standards)
The California Air Resources Boardand General Motors are pleased toexplain the emission control systemwarranty on your vehicle. InCalifornia, new motor vehicles mustbe designed, built, and equipped tomeet the state's stringent anti-smogstandards. GM must warrant theemission control system on yourvehicle for the periods of time andmileage listed provided there hasbeen no abuse, neglect, or impropermaintenance of your vehicle. Yourvehicle's emission control systemmay include parts such as the fuelinjection system, ignition system,catalytic converter, and engine
computer. Also included are hoses,belts, connectors, and otheremission-related assemblies.
Where a warrantable conditionexists, GM will repair your vehicle atno cost to you including diagnosis,parts, and labor.
California Emission Defect andEmission Performance WarrantyCoverage
For cars and trucks with light duty ormedium duty emissions:

Owner's Warranty Responsibilities

GMrecommends that you retain allmaintenance receipts for yourvehicle, but GM cannot denywarranty coverage solely for thelack of receipts or for your failure toensure the performance of allscheduled maintenance.
You are responsible for presentingyour vehicle to a GM dealer sellingyour vehicle line as soon as aproblem exists. The warrantedrepairs should be completed in areasonable amount of time, not toexceed 30 days.
As the vehicle owner, you shouldalso be aware that GM may denywarranty coverage if your vehicle ora part has failed due to abuse,

Replacement Parts
The emission control systems ofyour vehicle were designed, built,and tested using genuine GM parts*and the vehicle is certified as beingin conformity with applicable federaland California emissionrequirements. Accordingly, it isrecommended that anyreplacement parts used formaintenance or for the repair ofemission control systems be new,genuine GM parts.
The warranty obligations are notdependent upon the use of anyparticular brand of replacementparts. The owner may elect to usenon-genuine GM parts forreplacement purposes. Use ofreplacement parts which are not ofequivalent quality may impair theeffectiveness of emission controlsystems.
If other than new, genuine GM partsare used for maintenancereplacements or for the repair ofparts affecting emission control, theowner should assure himself/herselfthat such parts are warranted bytheir manufacturer to be equivalentto genuine GM parts in performanceand durability.
* “Genuine GM parts,” when used inconnection with GM vehicles,means parts manufactured by or forGM, designed for use on GMvehicles, and distributed by anydivision or subsidiary of GM.
Maintenance and Repairs
Maintenance and repairs can beperformed by any qualified serviceoutlet; however, warranty repairsmust be performed by an authorizeddealer except in a situation wherethe vehicle owner is significantlyinconvenienced and a warrantedpart or a warranty station is notreasonably available to the vehicleowner.

dealer is not reasonably available,repairs may be performed at anyavailable service establishment orby the owner, using anyreplacement part. Cadillac willconsider reimbursement for theexpense incurred, includingdiagnosis, not to exceed themanufacturer's suggested retailprice for all warranted partsreplaced and labor charges basedon Cadillac's recommended timeallowance for the warranty repairand the geographically appropriatelabor rate. A part not being availablewithin 10 days or a repair not beingcompleted within 30 daysconstitutes a significantinconvenience. Retain receipts andfailed parts in order to receivecompensation for warranty repairsreimbursable due to thesesituations.
If you are in a situation where youare significantly inconvenienced andit is necessary to have repairsperformed by other than a Cadillacdealer and you believe the repairsare covered by emission warranties,take the replaced parts and your
receipt to a Cadillac dealer forreimbursement consideration. Thisapplies to both the FederalEmission Defect Warranty andFederal Emission PerformanceWarranty.
Receipts and records covering theperformance of regular maintenanceor other repairs (such as thoseoutlined earlier) should be retainedin the event questions ariseconcerning maintenance. Thesereceipts and records should betransferred to each subsequentowner. GM will not deny warrantycoverage solely on the absence ofmaintenance records. However, GMmay deny a warranty claim if afailure to perform scheduledmaintenance resulted in the failureof a warranty part.
Claims Procedure
As with the other warrantiescovered in this booklet, take yourvehicle to any authorized Cadillacdealer facility to obtain serviceunder the emission warranty. Thisshould be done as soon as possibleafter failing an EPA-approved I/M
test or a California smog check test,or at any time you suspect a defectin a part.
Those repairs qualifying under thewarranty will be performed by anyCadillac dealer at no charge.Repairs which do not qualify will becharged to you. You will be notifiedas to whether or not the repairqualifies under the warranty within areasonable time, not to exceed30 days after receipt of the vehicleby the dealer, or within the timeperiod required by local or state law.
The only exceptions would be if yourequest or agree to an extension,or if a delay results from eventsbeyond the control of your dealer orGM. If you are not so notified, GMwill provide any required repairs atno charge.

Normally, any concernswith the sales transaction or theoperation of your vehicle will beresolved by your dealer's sales orservice departments. Sometimes,however, despite the best intentionsof all concerned, misunderstandingscan occur. If your concern has notbeen resolved to your satisfaction,the following steps should be taken:

30 State Warranty Enforcement Laws
Laws in many states permit ownersto obtain a replacement vehicle or arefund of the purchase price undercertain circumstances. Theprovisions of these laws vary fromstate to state. California Civil Code Section1793.2(d) requires that, if GM or itsrepresentatives are unable to repaira new motor vehicle to conform tothe vehicle's applicable expresswarranties after a reasonablenumber of attempts, GM shall eitherreplace the new motor vehicle orreimburse the buyer the amountpaid or payable by the buyer.California Civil Code Section1793.22(b) creates a presumptionthat GM has had a reasonablenumber of attempts to conform thevehicle to its applicable expresswarranties if, within 18 months fromdelivery to the buyer or 18,000 mileson the vehicle's odometer,whichever occurs first, one or moreof the following occurs:
. The same nonconformity resultsin a condition that is likely tocause death or serious bodilyinjury if the vehicle is drivenAND the nonconformity hasbeen subject to repair two ormore times by GM or its agentsAND the buyer or lessee has
directly notified GM of the needfor the repair of thenonconformity.
