Home & School Association Announcements

Home and School hopes everyone has a great holiday season and is looking forward to the Glow

Run! We need all hands on deck to make this a great event!

SPOTLIGHT: Student Fun Glow Run- February 14, 2020 Home & School’s signature fundraising event this year will be the Fun Glow Run taking place February

14, 2020. Home and School is soliciting sponsors for the Fun Glow Run. If you are a business or individu-

al interested in sponsoring the event, you can donate directly here and your logo or name will be featured

on the t-shirts that we are creating for the event.

Don’t forget to take advantage of your company’s matching policy if they have one.

What is it?

The Fun Glow Run is a fundraising event that gets everyone involved-friends and families, local business-

es, and most importantly the students. The Fun/Glow Run takes place over 8 days with pep rallies leading

up to the final “run” for 45 minutes on February 14, 2020. The “run” consists of 35 laps around the gym

that are choreographed to a soundtrack that tells students what to do: slow motion lap, skip lap, silly lap,

etc. Home and School is asking for sponsors for the event, but students will also help to raise money by

asking friends and family to pledge a certain amount per lap.

Spirit Wear! Home and School has some awesome new Spirit Wear that is nearly ready to make it’s debut.

Look out for a flyer in student backpacks featuring HNPS winter hats, baseball hats, bags, water bottles,

hoodies, t-shirts, plaid pants and more!

Like us on facebook at Holy Name Parish School Fundraising to learn more about the upcoming events!

News from the Art Room! Welcome to the Art Room! January in the Art Room is a very special

month. In January, all of the students at Holy Name School participate in the Square One Art fundraiser.

With the help of the Home and School organization, Ms. Gately has been conducting this fundraiser for six

years at Holy Name School, but it is her ninth year running the fundraiser! The Square One art fundraiser

is a great way to earn money for our school, but it also asks our community to become art appreciators.

The Square One Art fundraiser is especially beneficial, because all of the students receive a sheet of stick-

ers with their artwork. Every student receives a square piece of paper and has the choice to create whatever

they choose. Students have the opportunity to use a variety of stencils, but also can create a free hand

drawing of their own original content. Students outline their drawings with a black sharpie and then use

Crayola Crayons and Twistables to add color. Students are encouraged to mix and layer their colors, as

well as press down hard with their crayons to create a vibrant and bright composition that can be recog-

nized from a distance. When the students complete their work, the Home and School organization ships it

to the Square One Art company, where all of the artwork is scanned and free stickers or “squickers” are

returned to each student. At this point, students receive a catalog or can order items online with their art-

work on it. Some of the items available are IPhone cases, key chains, mugs, sketch books and much more!

By the time the squickers have been sent to Holy Name and the orders have been filled, it is usually

around Mother’s and Father’s Day and that is why the students are encouraged to design a composition

that possesses a Spring oriented theme. Ms. Gately loves this project because the students create some

amazingly bright, thoughtful and well crafted compositions and hopes that the students’ love of art can be

translated into benefitting Holy Name financially, as well as culturally. It is very important for Ms. Gately

to help create a community of artistic appreciation and that is her goal with this fundraiser.
